Having a real rough period - please help !

Hello,
So I was prescribed Citalopram 40mg right back in 2001/2002 for depression and anxiety and it's been working like an absolute charm up until about two months back.
I was also diabetic and obese and managed to lose 4 1/2 stone, with the doctors taking me off all of my diabetic drugs.
About two months ago, out of nowhere, I experienced sudden nausea and shaking which turned into a full panic attack with body tremors and shaking all over. I only had the tremors last twice, but since then I've had morning anxiety, feeling of hopelessness, really bad depression that makes me feel isolated, sad and full of despair, to the point where I just cry.
The only thing helping me right now is being surrounded by people and/or loved ones. It helps me take my mind off feeling so rough. Even just having something to look forward to helps to a degree.
I'm going to be completely honest here and say that I was missing doses of my Citalopram, not on purpose but through forgetfulness. Could all this have been due to missed doses? Or has my body chemistry changed through losing weight? 40mg Citalopram is a big dose I've been reading, perhaps I could be weened down or off it completely now?
I visited my GP a few times over the last couple of months, she prescribed me with 15mg Lansoprazole to help with the excessive acid production in my stomach from anxiety which was making eating impossible. She then prescribed me with 10mg Propranolol which I have refused to take because I feel like I'm already on enough medications and don't want to become too reliant on another one.
She seemed to brush aside the fact that I missed doses of my Citalopram, maybe because of this whole issue with Covid has given them less time face to face.
I have managed to get a face to face with another GP at the same practise for next Monday to discuss all this, hopefully she can help but I was wondering if I could get any advise from anyone here on what to do for the best.
Some days are hard, others are good, but even the good is soon overwhelmed with negative thoughts.
Is it my body readjusting to the Citalopram again after missed doses?
Many thanks 😃

for a while, I was on Propranalol and Citalopram.
The propranalol really got my panic attacks under control whilst the Citalopram started to cut in - I took them for about 6 weeks. I guess my message is to not discount them completely as they may help you.
In respect of Citalopram, some say that you can become hardened to it after a while - but I really don't know how true that is - it might be worth asking your GP for a medication review as there are other SSRI that you could try if you are comfortable in doing so.
