Having Bilateral Total Hip Replacement Surgery

After about 4 years of hip pain, I am scheduled for bilateral total hip replacement surgery on October 8th. I am scared to death. Having horrible dreams, etc. just wondering if anyone has had the procedure and their experience. I am having direct anterior procedure.

    Joyce want to wish you very good luck. I'm due to have right hip at some point. The longer we leave these things the worse they get. I'm sure you will be well after but I do share with you how you feel. Let us know how things go after. Good luck. Louise.

    I was not sure how to post just a general reply to thank everyone. A couple of you had asked about my anxiety etc. I am scared of the pain, of the surgery not helping, of losing my job, of dying, being a burden ... just scared. My sister in law went into the hospital for a routine procedure about 2 months ago. Turned out she had a rare aggressive cancer. She did not come home. I know I sound like Debbie Downer or a real nutcase, but I am just scared. Trying to see the positive. I really am. But it is hard because this is so major. But my doctor has okayed that I take my klonopin before the surgery, so that will help. My husband is awesome. My kids are wonderful and I have the best friend in the world who plans to be with me through surgery and stay with me for several weeks. So I do have so many positives. I just want this surgery to help...

      I know that this is a very challenging time ... I know what you mean - my cousin went in for minor sinus surgery - same like your sister in law ... rare agressive cancer ... 

      but these are exceptions 

      at some point I just surrendered - 

      I know that you are a positive soul and feel blessed to be surrounded by so many loving people ...

    Hi Joyce I am due to have t h r on 13th no Tue , I have cancelled 3 times due to anxiety and been told this is my last chance, I'm on crutches and life is compromised but I'm absolutely terrified , can you please advise ?
