Having difficulty finding information around private endovenous laser treatment

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hi,

I have suffered from itching and bruising from varicose veins for over 10 years now and have had little release from compressions bandages so I want to get them treated. Owing to the great postcode lottery, in our area, the NHS will only fund the treatment if I have leg ulcers too, which thank goodness, I do not. However, this now leaves me on my own trying to find information around getting endovenous laser treatment done privately. Is there an NHS choices site for private healthcare where I could find out further information of whom may offer this treatment along with tried and tested reviews or ‘quality’ rating?

Thank you so much in advance for your help.

    Hi Louise,

I've actually also been trying to research into private healthcare over the past few weeks. I want to get some orthodontic treatments done, but I have to get them done privately because they are for cosmetic reasons.

I have been trying to find some information on the trusted NHS Choices website regarding treatments offered by these private services but sadly I wasn't able to get as much regarding price - which is most important.

I wish there was a site where I can find some trusted information regarding the private care where I can make informed choices and decisions.

I have just had private treatment for varicose veins as like Louise, the NHS will not fund in my area unless leg ulcers are present. I spoke to my GP who gave me information on local hospitals and surgeons. I'd start there if I were you, as they do have an idea of what's available locally.

BMI healthcare website does have some fee information but for info I paid a total of £3150 for consultation/ultrasound and op. But I think there was less to do on me than on most peeps.

    Hope this helps

    Hello,

Thank you kindly to both for your support and interest. It indeed is reassuring to know that there are others in my situation. I too am sure that my GP is aware of local hospitals and surgeons but regrettably he seems to have to tow the NHS party line and is bound by this so unable to offer me any ‘recommendations’ or even opinions on to whom I should turn. Wouldn’t it be just so convenient if there were such a trusted site with this information to allow me to make an enlightened choice, as I feel as I am looking for a needle in a haystack…and in the dark! I wonder if anyone may know of such a source of information/contacts?
