Having endoscopy tomorrow morning... terrified!!

I am having an endoscopy procedure tomorrow morning. I had one many years ago, when I was a lot younger. Probably 6 or 7 years old. But haven't ever had anything else done. I have asthma and allergies.. and it tends to bother me the most when I'm sleeping... so being put under just really worries me. And my doctor does the procedure at his office, not in a hospital. I do suffer from anxiety too... and I am so nervous!! Just looking to see if anyone can give me some feedback.. Thanks!!

Let your doctor know how anxious you are and have sedation. It's not an anaesthetic so it doesn't knock you out: it just calms you and means you're not likley to remember it; some patients actually fall asleep.

Whilst coscious, concentrate on the breathing and keep as calm as you can.

I've had numerous scopes over the last 22 years and have to have them without sedation. They're not pleasant but they're over in a few minutes and it's better to know what's going on inside you than to be constantly worried about what could be happening.

Good luck for tomorrow. I' sure it will all be good.

Get sedation. I went through it twice, once without Sedation and once with it. Neck spray is not a good idea compared to how it went when I got sedated. I was equally nervous having gone through horrible experience first time. I reluctantly opted for sedation... Then they injected one white fluid.. and very next second, I was told that all went ok.. it was done.. in next 10 minutes I was walking, as if nothing happened to me...

and dont research too much or read too many articles on it. It will unnecessarily increase your level of anxiety. once it will be done, you would be laughing on many comments that you would have gone through earlier...It's an extremely minor activity in medical terms...no big deal..
