Having problems with Anxiety/Panic Should I not look at Related Help First?

Posted , 7 users are following.

Hi all forum members, when I read problems like mine on the forum I seem to come away feeling worse than I was before. Should I not look at the Related Information to help me with the advice I am getting from other forum members. After all, what are they for? Do you think they are good or bad things to read? I really want to know from forum members because I want to get better after 30 years with bi-polar and anxiety. Any suggestions I am coping now just but I want to kick it into touch for good. I'm distracting myself by going to the gym for several hours but it starts again when I am at home on my own. Peter.

Don't Google your symptoms it's the worst thing to do! I'm 22 and suffer panic attacks every day over my health. Today I Google the risks of getting cancer and I can honestly say I can 99% get over my health panic as the chance of getting cancer between 18-24 is 1 in 70,000! It might be worth having a look into because it's so uncommon but people only think it's more common because a lot of people with cancer share there story's, so it seems more but stats off cancer research show your risk and your age group, hope this helps you

    Hi peter,

Reading on forums about other peoples aneixty helps me, as it validated the fact that it is anxiety. Googling on the other hand it's dangerous, as most of the time, it will make you believe you have a serious health condition!

Hi Peter, I only joined the site yesterday, an although it has made me feel I'm not so alone as didn't realise how many people suffer from this, I do feel like you, by getting out distracting myself I am better, the most anxiety I feel is at home on my own too, but because I'm so exhausted I have no choice to stay put at the moment and it does feel much much worse, so if you can keep getting out there, do it, and keep distracting yourself as much as you can.

Peter, I find the forums help me more then hinder. I feel assured knowing so many people have the same issue or similar to me. Also, when i am able to share my thoughts and experiences it helps me and hopefully is helpful to others. I have too much alone time and that is bad for me. Lonliness makes my anxiety fester and bubble. I just adopted a older dog from the SPCA this week and hoping she can help me get through this roigh patch. My husband lives away from home during the week and of my 3 kids only one is still at home but works a part time job evenings and weekends since the Fall last year and he is getting older (15). Do you find the gym is helpful to get your thoughts in order? I would imagine it would help. Robin

Its interesting to seek out internet info but very overwhelming. Realuze that the thousands who have had positive results do not tend to post information.so you are reading the small percentages of side effects, idiopathic reactions and oddities. A lot of the info is wrong or not scientifically based. People have a ton of ailments or are on meds they dont mention then talk about their experience with x drug or x surgery. So interesting it is but reluable it is NOT. We have all be ome our own doctors and trust levels have plumeted making healthcare from drs a lot more difficult as half the process is trust and belief to begin with. Forums are useful for anxiety or emotional stuff but be very cautious with actual illnesses and quick fix cures. Eople with high anxiety levels also tend to absorb other peoples symptoms as they are usually very sensitive to the world around them.

Hi Peter, I do see what you mean, and some days I dont come here because I may be low and anxious. However when I was at my darkest time this website and the folks on it were a gift, It made me realise I was not alone and amongst others who have been there, done it or doing it and for that I will be forever greatfull to this forum
