How long have u had the implant? Have u been to PT.. what dos UR do say? It's complicated. Muscles & tendons take guite awhile to heal. I occasionally still have pain 14 yrs after my first implant. The second has never really healed well 2&1/2 yrs later.

Hip implants r like snowflakes no two are the same.

my first hip implant took almost a full year to be comfortable and no pain. Even on a good day sometimes over do,

I like the snowflake analogy Hope. I too am suffering pain in the leg of the last replacement. Back on painkillers. It's nerve type pains and I feel it in the shin and into the foot.If I rest it gets better. I am probably overdoing it at the moment but am cutting back as much as possible. It's a hard lesson to learn that after thr things are better but I am never going to be "normal" for a woman of sixty.

I saw a woman yesterday playing basketball with her grandsons. From a distance see looked like a young woman but she was older than me. There she was, leaping about and there was me, sat on the bench resting my aching leg. I know comparisons are an illusion because for all I know she may be a survivor of some other plague that flesh is heir to. Still.......

Just remember the things u can do not the things u cannot..focus on how lucky we r...pain is different and I too understand. I want to recognize the things I can still do..u can too! Maybe a lot different because we recognize our limitations & know we can do things differently..

      it now our new normal..biggrin

Hope4cure I had the implant 3 years ago. Went to a orthopedic surgeon, had xrays and MRI done and he said all he could see was a little artheritis. My leg with the implant is a little bit longer. I thought artheritis pain was more like a aching not sharp sudden pain with certain movements?

Arthritis pain is miserable. Sharp dull and screaming.. I have seen arthritis specialists . My rhumy has helped with meds for arthritis. A little arthritis is all it takes .. It's in a place causing pain it could be very painful .

please see a rhumy they can help u out . Trials for many new meds are now approved and on the market now.. U could find a med to give u much needed relief, and peace of mind.
