Having sleep issues after baby-what’s next

Hi-just had my baby a week ago. I have a history of terrible sleep when pregnant or postpartum. I take 125 mg of nortriptyline and some trazodone. Still can’t sleep. My doc tested my levels of nortrip, but haven’t gotten those results back yet. My doc said I could take more traz until I see her on Monday.  She might want me to try seroquel. Has anyone tried that before for sleep? Not sure what to do next. Thanks!

Do some research on google before taking any brain medication. For example how to stop seroquel etc.

Have you tried it? Yes, I plan on it. I’m hoping trazodone at a higher dose does the trick.

These medicines easy to start. If we stop suddenly there will be serious changes in the brain. I am suffering with hypnoppic hallusinations due to risperidone cold turkey. We need to taper seroquel or benzos very slowly. Need lot of patience . So please be prepared when you start any medicine.

Thanks. Yes, very true. I’ll see what the doctor says. I’m kinda freaking out because nothing is helping me sleep.

300 ml of warm milk mixed well with half a teaspoon turmeric and sugar is what helping me. here in India milk means buffalo milk.

I mean drink milk before bed time .sleep every day by 9 pm and wake up by 6 am. Until sleep issues settle down. You can use cow milk too.

Thanks. I have read a lot about turmeric but never tried. Perhaps I’ll give it a whirl. How long were you on resp?

one month. Then cold turkey due to ignorance. The doctor who prescribed this drug for excessive thinking , did not warn me about consequences of not doing slow taper. After 2 years I am still suffering hypnopompic hallusinations.

I used resperidone only one month. I thought to stop because my excessive thinking got controlled and never persisted again.

I’m sorry to hear that! So tough. Do you use a sleep aid?

I did search in google alot. Then I came to know how dangerous to use resperidone or any other brain related medication. Our brain is very self healing. We should not fear for sleep problems. We should give time to the brain to repair itself.Turmeric milk is what helping to my sleep.
