Having strange bowel movements

Hello everyone, I’m 23- about to turn 24 year old female.

On July 16, I went to an ENT for swollen tonsils. I was prescribed augmentin for 10 days for this and was on my way. I finished my treatment yesterday but have noticed weird things happening when I have a bowel movement.

My stools are thin and narrow and a light brown/yellow color and loose. This happened 2 days into my treatment and since then happens almost everyday. I didn’t eat with the antibiotic. I haven’t experienced symptoms like this before and now I’m worrying something is wrong. Obviously if it persists I will immediately call and make an appointment but everything I’m reading is pointing toward colon cancer.

I noticed red in my stool but I cannot tell if it is blood. I ate kidney beans yesterday and that’s what it looked like in my stool. There is no blood when I wipe. My stools are skinny and very loose and disentegrate when I flush. Could this be the antibiotic doing this?  I’m very nervous and already have anxiety and this is making it worse for me.

I dread to think what you are reading " if everything I’m reading is pointing toward colon cancer". You have been taking a very strong antibiotic which is known to have various and some serious side effects. This has undoubtedly affected your BMs and will settle in due course. Your GP will describe this in detail. Do not worry.

Antibiotics can make stools loose if your worried go to see your GP and ask them to do a fecal occult blood test they send your stool sample off to lab to test for blood in stool have you any other symptoms
