Having the sphincterotomy

After having this fissure for 6 months and trying a few ointments Im going to have the sphincterotomy. My pain from the fissure tends to vary some days/weeks Im in bed crying while other days its a minor soreness for a few hours after a BM. But i have just grown tired of having pain with each BM.  I have a few questions: For those that have had the surgery how much or little did you eat the day/days before? I was thinking of keeping to liquids the day before so that my 1st BM after surgery wouldn't be for a day or two.  For the Sitz baths did you buy the toilet baths? or did you just sit with small amounts of water in a regular bath? Any suggestions to offer pre surgery? Or post?

Hi I have a partner that had the same problem. I researched every where and found an answer! Olive oil! Cook with it drink it daily like 2tablespoons. Also we have a wet room and when having a bowel movement.. DON'T sit try to STAND a little as our anal tract is slightly straight allows you to have a freer bowel..I made my partner try all of this as he could barely walk after a bowel n pain was excruciating.. He was up for surgery and no longer needs it as he is healed and pain free. Uses olive oil daily!! This was 4yrs ago..no pain since!! Please please try this it takes time but try it!!!

I had the surgery about a month and a half ago. And I went from having pain for hours after a bowel movement in the 8/9 range to now I have minor pain in the 2/3 range for just a few min after a bowel movement. What I did before surgery was I only ate liquids the day before surgery. And started slow on solid foods afterwards making sure I took fiber and a laxative. That said my 1st BM wasn't for a few days and though I had pain with it it was less pain that the before surgery. That all said I am so glad I had the surgery.
