having total hip replacement in next few months.

i am having  a THR in thenext few months . any advise onhowto prepare for this.after reading posts i am tying to sleep on my back to try to rewire my brain before op. Getting about 2 hours then back on side. Any pre op advise wouldbe helpful--the kind of things only those who have beenthrough it know. I am 69 and quite active up until one month ago when a stumble took osteoarthritis from about 6 to 10

    Good morning ...I have no experience with crutches ... and I live in the flat lands, so to speak ...  sounds a wee bit challenging to me - I have a  wheel walker and am trying to picture how I would do it ... 

    giving up my independence was brutal - a big learning experience -I live too far from shops so for every little thing I had to ask someone to get it for me - usually decided to do without, except for toiletpaper !!!   I am 9 weeks post op today and started to drive 2 weeks ago ... it is the Asking for help attractac  that is so difficult - one of my girlfriends told me that I was a bad girlfriend because I don't allow people to help me ... made me think ... still having a problem with it though - take care -

      Depends where you live. NHS guidelines suggest 18 weeks. I waited 4

      living in Northern Ireland and was told waiting time at least 12 months so am going private.

      morning Alhajasif.......   I am stll waitin for my op. date. Like yourself I have been waiting since March the 2nd.  I hope the waiting time is the worst part..... cos you have to much time to think  about the op..  I hope we both her soon....  wnere abouts do you live? are you in the UK?  I am in South yorkshire.  rolleyes
