Having weird symptoms

Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with a large teratoma on my right ovary. I was supposed to have surgery on Aug10 but was cancelled because my insurance is taking awhile to be set up. I've been having pain since Aug2 on my right abdominal side it goes to my hip and pelvis (it's been bearable lately so I havent gone to ER) also hard time passing gas and stool sometimes, and today I woke up with pain near my belly button, every time I breathe in it hurts when I sit up it hurts. And I'm just wondering if this is all part of the teratoma? Has anyone else experienced this? Thank you

Hi Cece, I was diagnosed with a dermoid cyst on my left ovary at the end of March (via a trans vaginal ultrasound), had ct scan mid July (to confirm - apparently they like two sources of images to fully diagnose) and surgery planned for mid sept.

Heres my understanding of a dermoid cyst / teratoma - it grows from an egg (maybe as a result of the egg not being released properly, or getting stuck en route out), and because it grows from an egg it has the cells present to form another human being, hence the teeth, hair, cartilage etc...this, in effect, is like another person growing inside you (albeit in cyst format and not real) - your body gives you all the symptoms of being pregnant plus a few others depending on what the cyst is pushing on.  I've had a constant dull ache in my left side, sharper pains in left side, nausea, needing to wee a lot, bloatedness, weight gain, irregular periods, pain when I breathe in, pain when I bend over, extreme nausea and pain if needing to strain to go to the toilet, extreme tiredness, lower back ache and extreme emotions.  I am down to the last few items in my wardrobe that fit me.  According to my consultant though, dermoid cysts don't cause irregular periods or weight gain - I've now read a few forums and I'm beginning to think my consultant really doesn't know much about dermoid cysts!

I hope you get your date for surgery soon and the very best of luck with it.  I can't wait to have mine, I desperately want to start running again and feel fit and well again, but there's just no way at the moment.
