Hay-fever in South England

Normally I get pretty bad hay-fever this time of year and my eyes hurt and am blocked up and even get bad asthma sometimes, 2018 was the absolute worst year for me. However this year I'm not really showing any symptoms at all and neither is my dad or my brothers, which is a first for me. Has anyone else had a slightly easier year this year and does anyone have any explanations? Also, I live just outside of a small city if that helps.
