hi all.

many apologies if im going over old ground.

ive had hs for 8-10 years but about 2 years ago used head and shoulders under my armpits as a body wash.{had run out of shower gel]the discomfort seemed and was greatly diminished almost immediately.with regular use my hs is really under very good control.

i know this seems odd but has anyone else tried?with or without success ?had to post in case it helps even one person, trev

    Hi trev

thanks for posting this tip, I love it!

I, for one, will give it a go when the gremlins appear next. I too have it under control at the moment by cutting out nightshade vegetables from my diet.

Now I've  said that I bet they resurface. 😳

Hi Trevor I also use head and shoulders, apparently it's the zinc version (classic I think it's called) that's the best for HS.

i had surgery a year ago and this along with turmeric capsules and zinc tablets has prevented any reoccurrence so far apart from a couple of minor bumps that disappeared quickly.

I can't be certain that any of the above actually work but there's no way I'm changing my ritual while I'm on a good run !

The two minor outbreaks I had were directly after drinking a certain brand of milk so I also completely cut this out of my diet and nothing since, I seem to be fine with nightshades though for some reason.

    take care

thankyou for posting this... i love it and so far its working for me.

ive had HS for approx 18 months, confirmed 5 months ago by the dermatologist. i was having constant boils..as one went another came up...ive never felt pain like it. i had been started on ethromyacin by my GP (as allergic to some of other antibiotics), dermatologist wanted to try acitretin but as it can cause some severe side effects he sent me home with various fact sheets, to think about it and to have a blood test before next appointment a month later.

i came across your post after this appt. and thought...why not... i'l try anything...and so glad i did. the boil i had was itchy and painful and the head and shoulders (classic version) took the sting out of it immediately and within a week had disappeared. 3 weeks later when i went back to dermatologist for the first time i had had no flares. i decided to hold off on the acitretin and continue on the ethromyacin (2 tablets twice a day but only twice a week) and the head and shoulders. i saw the dermatologist 2 months later and still no flares. i had only had one small itchy spot (the only thing that i hadnt done was use the head and shoulders as i had ran out) i washed the area with newly bought head and shoulders and the spot didnt flare... it disappeared in two days.

i mentionned the head and shoulders to the dermatologist who was very intrigued... i am going back to see him in 2 months and he is very interested to hear if any one else has had positive effect using head and shoulders....so if anyone would like to trial and report back i would be interested to hear.
