Head hair poking through eardrum?

Posted , 2 users are following.

I have occasionally gotten head hair in my ear canal that rubs against my eardrum and causes a buzzing sensation in the presence of some sound frequencies (e.g., ringing phone). Typically the hair is long enough that I can grab it with tweezers from the opening of the ear canal. At times I have had to put alcohol on a cotton swab and gently go deeper into the canal, the hair sticks to the wet cotton swab and comes out. Neither method has been working for my current symptoms, so I bought a cheap otoscope online and found what looks like a head hair sticking through my ear drum...

Is that possible? Am I interpreting the image correctly?

I am not experiencing pain or hearing loss, just the symptoms mentioned and the sensation that there is something in my ear.
