Head pressure, Brain fog, odd head sensation, feeling detached

Hi all,

I decided to become a member and make a post here after reading the forums for quite a while, great site by the way.

I am currently suffering with various symptoms and am in a bad way and just don't know where to turn any more so thought I would post here and see if anyone has any similar experiences or advice.

So first of I am male and 26 years old. I have been suffering with the symptoms in the title pretty consistently for about 2 and a half years now. I used to have some relief from the symptoms for a day or 2 here and there or maybe a bit of relief for a few hours in the day but recently the symptoms are pretty much constant and I cannot shake them.

I have an overall mild pressure feeling in the head, its not painful but is just very aggravating and feels really strange. I also have extreme brain fog with this and like a fuzzy head, there is a constant cloud over my brain and I never have any mental clarity or a clear head. My cognitive function is extremely poor now, my short term memory is non existent, its scarily bad. I often feel, detached from reality when the symptoms are bad and suffer from de-realisation, although I think this may be down to some anxiety and depression I experience when the symptoms run me down. I also get random sharp cramping pains in the head, they are quite painful but do not bother me so much as they only usually last a second or 2, it varies on how many I get of these each day but its usually less than 5. It often feels as though my brain is malfunctioning somehow and my cognitive function and senses are all out of whack, its hard to explain. There can sometimes be a build up of these symptoms throughout the day and by the night I can feel like I somehow how the flu without a fever? Like I have the head pressure, completely foggy headed, I feel super unwell, weak, sometimes even start feeling cold. Also have night sweats usually for about 4 or 5 days each month, there doesnt seem to be any sort of pattern to them that I can notice, so not sure if they are relevant. Another thing I have is ringing in ears which is mild but seems to have gotten worse recently if that sounds relevant at all. The main thing that gets me is the odd head pressure/sensation and the utterly life hindering brain fog, my brain feels like it is coated in a dark blanket constantly.

I do suffer from anxiety, I know many of these symptoms can be caused or made worse by these symptoms. I dont doubt that anxiety is a contributing factor and the way I think about they symptoms probably makes them worse but I have come a long long way with my anxiety, I have good control over it, I haven't had a panic attack in a couple of years, I manage to control most of my concious anxiety and stay in a positive mindset. No doubt I still have some subconscious anxiety underlying and I am working on that but I am not convinced this is the route cause of my symptoms. I am in therapy for my anxiety. I do not feel I will ever fully recover while I have these symptoms hanging over me though.

I have been to the doctor about these symptoms, although I do think I struggle to explain them or put them across very well in the doctors office. I have have blood tests which are all normal. I saw a neurologist couple of years back when this started, had a CT scan which was normal, they put the stabbing pains down to icepick headaches and thought the other symptoms were probably made worse by my anx/depression. Since then I went away and have been on anti depressants etc with no improvement of symptoms. I have also had a few ECGs and a 24hr ECG as I have slow heart rate and low bp so thought maybe the symptoms could be down to low bp and lack of blood to the brain, doctors do not think think this is the case and all my results came back normal. I have recently been back to the neurologist who is referring me for an MRI although he said he is sure there is nothing sinister and thinks the symptoms are probably tension type headaches and made worse by and previous drug use, he only put it down to the drug use when i told him about it though so it seemed like a convenient diagnosis. I forgot to mention I used to take drugs on the weekends socially, cocaine, ketamine and ecstasy on different occasions for a couple of years, I have had periods where I have felt ok since taking these drugs and do not really think they are the cause, I was not an addict this was just one or 2 nights a month at the weekends. So I have an MRI coming up but the neuro thinks it will be clear and obviously I hope it is and I am looking for other answers.

What could be causing these symptoms? Other than anxiety which i no can be a factor, but I have periods where my anxiety is pretty much non existent but these symptoms still build up out of nowhere and persist. I was thinking maybe some sort of allergy could be a possibility, I have tried cutting out gluten and lactose, this didn't seem to make much difference although I didn't stick to this for very long. I actually did a juice fast for 2 weeks with eating nothing other than fruit and veg juice put through a juicer to see if that would help but it didn't really give me any relief. Are there any other stomach issues that could cause this? I never have diarrhoea or constipation, my stools always float recently though, to the point of not being able to flush them, also whenever I have seen chance medicine doctors they check me out and say they think i have issues with digestion, i don't feel i have these issues but do wonder if there might be something in it.

Could there be something going on with the blood vessels in my head? Could it be a spine/posture issue? Some sort of epilepsy or electrical activity in my brain? I just have no idea now and am desperate for some relief. If anyone has any ideas or advice I would really appreciate it.

Oh just to add I am reasonably fit, I try go to the gym a few times a week and I do some weight lifting. I am a normal weight. I have been losing some weight recently which is a concern but I am still in a normal weight range for height and age.

Thanks for reading

Wow you pretty much just described exactly how I am feeling. I've been off work for 2 weeks. I am honestly living a nightmare right now. Some days I am completely bed ridden. Having a hard time even writing this because I feel so messed up right now. This has happened to me 2 before in the past. First-time was about 7 years ago and it lasted like 3 months. Then again 2 years ago lasting about a month. Well now it is back again and I don't know how much longer I can go on like this

I never got a real answer. Had all the tests done and everything came back normal. I've just always believed it was related to some sort of anxiety and depression. Well for a while I truely believed I was going crazy and now I feel that way again. I hear about anxiety all the time but felt my symptoms were very extreme and different from what I hear about. And the fact that it last so long day after day. I can't escape it unless I am sleeping.

I generally feel the same way. I too am going through a torturous experience, day by day with relief mainpy coming at night with sleep time. I too had similar bout 16 years ago - that took 3-6 months for recovery that time. But I've found that going out to meet friends helps a bit and perhaps aids recovery. Do you find any acticity that gives slight relief or lessens the intensity?

Not really. It's pretty much hard to do anything. Like today I was completely bed ridden. I seriously thought my brain was just going to give out on me which then causes the adrenaline to rush through my body . Today was by far thee worst so far

Hey everyone. I have recently come on to these exact symptoms. I found this post and every detail about this was exact to my symptoms.

From ready alot of comments it seems the common factor between us experiencing symptoms is our anxiety and depression. And this leads me to believe some people take Zoloft or other medications alike.

About 2 weeks ago i stopped taking Zoloft after only just starting and prescribed a month. I hated how i felt and it masked my emotions and didnt help me deal with anything. So i said f**k this im not taking this s**t anymore.

Thats when the symptoms began. It feels like a ball bouncing around in my body.

I realized today that i havnt eaten at all or had an apitite in over 24 hrs. Ive barely slept the past 2 or 3 days and have been exercising and working on my feet. But i dont feel tired. I have energy cuz i have many responsibilities. Just dizzy.

Since i was a child i had anxiety but did not know it and was embarrassed by my trembling and stuttering to tell people about it. Although i was outgoing and could be very social, i only felt the anxiety and body tremors wen having a one on one conversation about any topic. My comments would become rattled by my shaking voice and trembling bursts.

I fought this on my own without knowing what it was and beat it in almost its entirety. When a few shakes and stutters come along in conversation and i start feeling anxiety come on, i deep breathe and focus and it goes away quicker everytime.

Im 25 and ive smoked marijuana consistently since i was 15. Since then i had gained control over my symptoms.

Once i started taking Zoloft, the best weed i had had was not getting me high. And all my friends said it was great but ive just felt disappointed with it.

I know i shouldnt smoke wen on it but i figured it wouldnt make a big difference. Now i see maybe that the weed was not letting the drug work properly and thats why i didnt like it.

Regardless of how thc interacted with the Zoloft, i wanted off because i never trusted pharmaceutical medications since i found out my Aderal was meth.

After reading withdrawal symptoms on the drug, i am sure that is what i am experiencing. i now have intense anxiety and body tremors right now along with the fog. Im just going to go to sleep and hope ill be ok.

I can't seem to find any information about how to treat the withdrawals or if i will be ok or what i can do to make myself be ok. Only just what the symptoms of the withdrawals will be.

After reading in web md and other sources it seems that i will be ok and should have tappered off of the drug. Seeing how i was only at 50mg for one month or so, in comparison to others who commented saying they were at 150mg - 300mg, i think i can power through the foggy head for now unless things get really bad.

If anyone can relate or has advice or can tell me what to do, please respond. I need help now and i think im going to gt the hospital if my symptoms worsen. If that happens i will report back.

I would suggest folks check their neck and posture. Perhaps first and foremost.

I've had this going on for like 3-4 years,

And some simple neck exercises and making sure that when I stand up my ears are basically directly over my shoulders, and my shoulders are back, have helped a whole lot.

Along with some probiotics and healthy eating (mainly veggies), it's the simplest, cheapest, and therefore, should probably be the first step in your own diagnosis of the problem.

Text neck is a real thing. And if your posture is really out of wack it can effect your plumbing and electrical system. wink

Im looking into getting a cervical pillow as well.

    Hope that helps somebody.

I had all the same symptoms and have now after almost 2 years found my problem. I had a full hormone panel done and I have hypothyroidism.

I have so many similar symptoms and only thing I have found is I have a syrinx on the cervical spine which could also be caused by a chiari malformation

It may be worth getting an MRI of the spine to see if you have syringomyelia!?

Its good u have diagnosed your problem very well. Actually most of us people who are HYPERSENSITIVE to radiation has this problem.

If your mobile is always switched on to 4g and you always stay near wifi brain fog and odd sensation is a no brainer!!!!! (You will feel a difference with in minuets)

Definitely do not over hydrate yourself as it will mess up your brain and give u diarrhea.

Never hold up your bladder for long periods, bad for the brain!

Must avoid junk food till u feel a difference!!!!!!

Also train your self for simplicity.

Get sleep on time to recover what you have already lost.

Follow these simple sets and you will definitely feel a huge relif in not more than two days.....

Who ever has these symptoms dont worry, coz none of you guys are weird. Its just that your brain works way above than the average person where u understand your own brain.

Some people has these problems and live with depressoin and confusion but they dont understand, since most of us humans are trained to go on an autopilot system....

One more thing which i forgot to include is the morning sun! Between 7am to 9am if u can be exposed to it will benifit u in recovering most of the other ocd stuff!
