Headache and anxiety

So I have been having tension headaches on and off for years. Caused by stress and neck issues. But of course it's never easy because I can easily go down the rabbit hole and question it all the time. For almost 2 weeks now I've had a headache everyday , mainly forhead and back of head. But also above my right eye. It's a dull pressure feeling. Sometimes it switches to above the left eye. But mainly above my right. I've refrained from going to the doctor bc I'm sure it's several logical things, but I can't help but go find the rabbit hole and think bad thoughts. I would say I definitely hVe health anxiety but I just need piece of mind. I am going to a new primary care doctor on Monday for a physical and I'll talk to her about the headache. I know in my right mind that I'm ok, but my anxiety is trying to mess with me. I just want to feel better!

i also suffer from headaches and health anxiety so i know how u feel. even if i tell myself it's just anxiety i still feel anxious it's the most frustrating thing. to help ease ur anxiety u should definetly just ask ur doctor about it, sometimes when a doctor says it's fine it kinda helps. googling your symtpoms can make ur anxiety worse bc the results are scary so be careful! in the meantime, what i do to help w headaches i use a hot towel and leave it around my neck bc it really helps those tense muscles. i hope you feel better soon!

Sounds like tension headaches but good to get doctors opinion. I hold myself really tense due to anxiety, don't even realise I'm doing it until I notice how bad my shoulders, neck and jaw are aching, headaches are the worst though. Thought it was migraine as brother suffers but doc said definitely tension headache headaches, meds can help, but I try to put up with them. When really bad I use cool and soothe patches on forehead, non medicinal , just cool head to relieve pain a bit . Please don't google, ask docs advice, hope you get some reasurance .??

Hi I am orry to hear this as headaches are unleasant and itt can be a visious circle trying to fathom ou what is going on. Personally I would go and see your dr to discusss the headaches and take it from there. Discussing the headaches  might be therapeutic in itself.

I had headaches every day for five months then found out from a consultnt neurologist that analgesia , co codamol prescribed for back pain was causing the headaches!

Codiene and co cocodamol can cause really bad rebound headaches , hard to know wether it's tension or from meds we take to try and help other symptoms, frustrating, agree with ice cool, doc should know best by how you describe them, good luck, know how bad they can be??

    Hey!

I'm a massive hypochondriac, and one thing I noticed that helps is to keep track of your symptoms; write them down, take note of changes, etc. Since you described the headaches jumping around, switching between eyes, this is a great sign. Nothing bad jumps around like this or comes and goes, especially not tumors. I was afraid for a long time 2 years ago that I had brain cancer; I had a nonstop headache that Advil, Tylenol, Aleve, or muscle relaxants could relieve. On top of this I was getting pressure, dizziness, and a feeling of moving ground (as if on an elevator). It was terrifying, but I'm fine now. I still get headaches time to time, but yes the most common cause of symptoms like these is anxiety and neck/back issues, which can work with or against each other like a feedback loop.

THANK you so much. Yes it's mainly been in one spot but also moving around to the other side, and it does come and go. And yes I've been taking notes on it so I can tell my doctor on Monday.

I get anxiety headaches all the time too. Usually I just try to run warm water over my head or a warm towel and just try to relax and keep reminding myself it's just anxiety.

I'm sorry and I totally understand, it's not easy at all! Well hope the new medicine works out for you. I am on Wellbutrin and at this point I don't know if it helps.
