Headache, dizziness, and neck pain

Has anyone else experienced weekly headaches that just seem to last no matter how much sleep you get or water you drink? I also have neck pain in which I have already seen both chiropractor and physical therapist for. When I have these headaches, I feel pressure behind my ways so intense I can't stand bright lights. On top of all this I am dizzy, however, my balance is totally fine. I have already been to an ENT specialist and had an MRI, etc. Only thing I haven't moved onto is a neurologist because I already am racking up my medical bills and yes I have health insurance but a crappy one at that! Please help. Has anyone else been experiencing this and if so, what did you do to rid it?

Much appreciated!

Hi michlle, I know this post is a week old but I wondered if you could tell me what dose of amytriptyline you have been successful with. I too have tried at least 10 preventative meds to no avail. Also did you suffer from any side effects? Thanks.

      Hi Michelle.

i know your post is over a year old. I'm hoping you still get this message.

My husband has been suffering for 2 years with similar symptoms to you. He's had an MRI brain scan and a sinus scan. All fine. Slightly inflamed polyps in his nose.

He gets headaches, dizziness where he feels he's going to fall over, neck & shoulder pain & ear pressure.

He's been to ENT. He's had antibiotics, nasal sprays & washes, but still his symptoms are there. Some days are so much worse than others.

i just want my husband back. He's just not himself.

He really needs to speak to the doctor again, as he doesn't have an ENT follow up appointment until November.

Maybe he should mention these conditions. They have checked his ears though.

They just don't seen to know what it is.

I really hope you are still feeling okay.

      Jo x

Any joint pain or sinus drainage or nose bleeds?  If sinuses are really inflammed like chronic allergies, you may want to check for vasculitis which can go undiagnosed... ANCA/autoimmune test.   It can affect ears, sinuses, joints, etc.  The ENT totally missed it with my Dad.    If just sinus pressure or heaviness only in that area, may not be the case.  Maybe worth checking out though!   I similar the same dizzy and stiff neck issues from posture problems.

Jo, I have similar symptoms where the dull ache originates at base of skull on the left and radiates up and around to the eye.  I'm making an appt on Monday.  Any news on your husband?

Look at the sternocleidomastoid muscle. I was going through the same symptoms for eight months and have been to all the doctors with no results however came across a sprained/stained sternocleidomastoid muscle will cause all the symptoms I was having. I then performed the exercises they speak of and within five mins they all went away. Good luck

Michelle, I thought about asking my doctor to prescribe some type of migraine medication for me but I really like to avoid meds like the plague because I don't want to rely on something I am not certain is curing me or just masking the pain....I want real, natural, relief. I tried physical therapy and chiropractic care...nothing seems to help. It is only temporary and I can't take pain killers because I have a history of ulcers.

The only way forward I'd prevention meds. I've suffered 3 yrs with chronic daily headaches. The first yr I wasent on anything I was in a terrible state as I wasent diagnosed. I didn't start getting better and relieve till I started prevention meds. Yes I also hated taking meds still do but my life is so much better and increased my hrs at work to. I do everything now what I used to do before I got this illness. I also tried many herbal supplements nothing helped or helps as much as previously meds. I still take vitamin B2 magnesium everyday but there not enough. I only take these as drs say they don't harm u taking these abd can help a bit. I've also started Gopo it's a supplement with exellent reviews which help aches pains. They certainly helping me with my neck shoukder aches and pains which I know some off my headaches get worse when my shoulders neck ache sp u coukd also try them. Look on amazon at there reviews x

Hi! I really feel for you. I started having these symptoms in Spring of 2014 and have not had much relief.  Yes, every test done on earth, an ENT headache specialist told me this was what is called a combination Tension/Migraine Headache, and recommended a preventative medication...I don't recall now what it was unfortunately, but I took it for 2 months last summer and I was a zombie. I still had symptoms in the fall and my new MD prescribed Verapamil, it's a high blood pressure med, and I don't have high blood pressure, but this med is a vascodilator so she was prescribing it as a preventative. I have been taking it since October and it seemed to work the first few months,I only would have these neck pain/sinus pressure/dizziness/nausea/lethargy maybe 2 times a month. But, my symptoms have returned since May, on an almost daily basis. I also have to say I do think there is a link with stress, because I had series of job interviews in May, got a job, and now I had to move 900 miles this summer to a completely new environment, and I have these symptoms all the time. I am not sure there is a single curative. I do yoga, and at least when I am there I don't notice my symptoms. I also just started working out again, because I think exercise is helpful generally, but yes, hard to even do when one is so dizzy. I want to lie down all the time, but that doesn't help my mood (dealing with depression) at all. I think the other posts that recommend yoga and also just trying to live with it are probably good advice. After a year of feeling desperate, out of my mind with what is this going on, I try to ignore it. I will also add one last thing: try homeopathic Belladonna pills. I started using them in May and when I start to feel the pressure and pain I take 3 and sometimes it takes care of it right away, other times I have to take another 3-4 after an hour. It is safe to take (go to an herbalist or holistic med place) and is worth a try. Good luck to you, you are not alone with this-

Shari, I have tried everything under the sun as well and spent hundreds of dollars on vitamins, heathly foods, and doctor visits. I went from being very active (running, lifting weights, etc) and eating healthy to not being able to do any of these due to my neck pain and dizziness. I literally feel like a zombie some days. It is like there is so much going on that I feel exhausted all the time. My dizziness along with increased neck pain occurred last fall and nothing seems to help. I have zero inner ear issues and such. I am trying hard not to feel down and defeated or worried for that matter. I just want to be myself again..thanks for feeling my pain with me. It helps to know I am not alone...although I wish we didn't feel this way anymore or at least knew why!

Thanks Shari, I wish you luck too..very frustrating feeling thats for sure...especially when you "just want to get better" and be "normal"...

I am so glad I found this site.

So many of you are mentioning identical symptoms as my husbands.

I feel for you all, as I know what my husband is going through.

Unfortunately, he has not found a cure. He's very lethargic, whereas he was always on the go.

He works as a security officer in a busy shopping mall and never takes a sick day, no matter how awful he feels.

      Good luck to you all.

      Hi Tiny.

I think that is the most frustrating thing. Not having a diagnosis or getting a cure.

My husband hates feeling this way almost daily. It affects us both.
