Headaches

Hi, I've been unwell for around 14 months now (first became sick after getting as parasite while travelling, diagnosed with ME one month ago). My main symptoms have been the chronic fatigue, always thirtsy and aches in my legs (along with others dizziness, feel like I've been hit by a bus, cognative probelms...). However, for the past month I have had a constant headache - it never goes. It varies in pain and moves around my head. After one really severe headache I woke up with a numb weak feeling in the left side of my body (especially in my arm) and also get hot patches on my head - which aren't hot to touch, the heat feels like it is internal. I've been referred to a neurologist, but have not yet received my appointment. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Is this part of ME or something else?

Hope everyone has had a nice Christmas smile

    Hello Emma,

Hope you had a lovely Christmas. Mine was hectic. I was diagnosed with post viral symptoms in September. I have headaches too. Above all I have achy feet and legs. I have pins and needles in my legs and in particular my left leg I have hot and cold flushes. You are right it is not temperature hot but it warms up and disappears after like 30 seconds. It's bizarre. I am seeing a neurologist and after many scans he just says post viral. There is nothing to take for it. I am hoping it will go by itself. It is scary but I think that makes it worse.

Try not to worry. Do the flushes in your head last only a couple of seconds too?

When will you see your neurologist. My neurologist wants me to have a nerve conduction test next. I doubt this will reveal much for me.

Hi Elle...i hope you are not suffering too much today, or any other day for that matter...pins and needles, burning pains, head feels like an electic whisk inside...i too am off to see a neurologist for nerve conduction tests...not expecting too much to come out of that investigation..probably makes thins worse just the activity of being taken there and back...i will try and reply to anything you wish to share when i feel i can manage to do so...best wishes..

Hi Elle, the hot patches that I get are so weird, I think they are normally there for at least 20 minutes. Your right the worrying does make it worse! Have you had the headaches and hot flushes from the start? Or did they come on later?

I was referred a week last Friday,  but I think with it being Christmas it will be a while until my appointment comes through :-(

Hi Emma......I hope you are coping ok...i am in relapse at present, bedbound, so not able to offer the input for you that i would wish...I share some of your symptoms and yes it can be most distressing...feels like i have a head injury...are you able to walk at all?

Hi Guy, thank you for replying,  especially when you are so unwell. Yes that's exactly it-it feels like a head injury.  Thankfully I can walk, I do have pain in my legs. Have you had the headaches from the beginning?

Hi Emma.....symptoms fluctuate in duration and severity..my headaches are more like someone has clubbed me on the head and the hot sensations are down one side of my head and face...if you can try and change activities when symptoms rise, that might help...i have to remind myself all the time to make changes in activities...hope that helps..smile

Thanks Guy, just hearing that other people have these symptoms is a bit of a comfort. I really hope they find a cure soon! Take care smile

i have had all the above. I do get headaches everyday, but they are not too bad, though for two weeks in Sept. I had one that would not shift. I do get hot flushes but I don't thnik that is what you meant. I am 69 so it is nothing to do with the menapause, had a hysterectomy at 49.

Had a very nice Christmas at my daughters there were 9 of us, extremely exhausting. Home now to recover, I will try ad rest a lot in bed.

Hope you had a nice Christmas.

Hi Alison,  it's good to hear you enjoyed Christmas :-) Mine was nice too, definitely need some time to recover!

It's more hot patches that I get in my head at times-it feels a bit like the sun is shining on my face-but it isn't.  The headaches haven't moved for a month, I didn't have them before.  Have yours been from the beginning of your illness?

On Sunday I had a fall and hurt my shoulder badly. It was on ice (I won't go into details), I am even more exhausted than i would have been because of it, quite traumatic.I am in a lot of pain and my niece visited this afternoon,so no rest, but it was so good to see her. We go to friends tomorrow evening and maybe have some friends staying over, depends on the weather, really don't know how i will manage also my son wants us to all go out for a meal on Friday before their eldest goes back to Uni. All good fun, but so exhausting.

      A Happy New Year.
