How long since your operation and how many meds are you on now? I had a lot of problems with side effects from the ones I was on but not headaches.

If the headaches started right afer the operation did you mention them to your surgeon at your post operation appointment ?

I'm surprisded that you  are not on any medicaton. Presumably you had a tissue valve fitted.

Google: Headaches-Migraines following surgery and you will find that you are not alone.

Thanks for your help. I should say at this stage, I am actually doing this for my best friend, who is no good with computers. She had a 'pigs' valve fitted. sSe was on some tablets for about a month, and on seeing her consultant, was told the op was such success, her heart was working perfectly, and she no longer needed any medications. Each time she told them about her dreadful headaches, they dismissed them. Saying stupid unhelpful things, like, " it was a big operation". and that she should be grateful of her otherwise good health, which allowed her to recover so well. It was only discovered in a pre-op check for a routine Hysterectomy. However, yesterday on seeing her dentist, he has taken up the cause, and has made her an appointment with someone who specialises in the tri-geminal nerve. Thanks again Derek

It was a big operation, at least five hours. Like your friend my aortic stenosis was only found by chance as part of another investigation before any real symptoms appeared. Many people complain of 'Brain Fog' and memory problems for months after heart surgery. I was OK in that respect but got atrial fibrilltion instead.
