Healed from Lichen Sclerosus

I was diagnosed with ls in 2013. I discovered it was toilet paper that caused my LS. I used to wet the paper. I have stopped and use a toilet paper that is bleached with hydrogen peroxide rather than chlorine. Ive been free of LS ever since. sometimes i mistakenly wipe with regular paper and the LS flares up and I heal it with salt and water. The skin was sensitive and is no more since I began swallowing 1 crushed garlic everyday. Today I am grateful as I tried steroids and everything else to rid myself of this most horrible condition.

immediately. also when i traveled to the clinic before discovering it was toilet paper, i became constipated therefore i was not wiping other than a quick dap after peeing and i had no symptoms. the scars were there nonetheless enough for the specialist to diagnose me and do a biopsy

I "think" LS is from an autoimmune disease and have NEVER heard of toilet paper being the cause..perhaps u never really had LS...would "imagine" that sitting in a wet bathing suit could also "irritate" that whole situation - and IF the toilet paper has ANY ingredient in it that u had a allergic reaction to could cause the "V" to get sore and maybe red BUT never heard of LS occurring....just glad u r feeling better....

I have to agree with you vickie00010, if only a 'cure' were that simple...

agree. toilet paper can irritate but does not cause LS. LS is usually caused by an overactive immune system and can also be triggered by an infection such as lyme or any pathogen that triggers an auto immune reaction in the body.

Nailah,
Did you have a biopsy that confirmed LS in 2013? When, exactly did you discover that you "didn't" have the LS anymore? In other words, how long after you began using the better TP did you notice the LS was gone? Did you eat the garlic at the same time you used the new TP?
What water do you drink and, have you been swimming in a community pool?
Many bleaching processes are used in making tp and if the process used was formaldehyde or a bleach that contains dioxin, one of the most toxic chemicals known to man, then I can see how it could cause some harm.
The vulval skin is not quire like other skin. It has its own dermatological processes and medicines topically applied are not absorbed the same way as oral meds.

I was diagnosed in 2013 at a very reputable clinic by their specialist I used regular toilet paper and was wetting it since i was a teen. what led me to this suspect toilet paper was my boyfriend suggesting i wipe too hard. I researched toilet paper and found its bleached with chlorine and a by product of chlorine is dioxin, a chemical thats rated as one of the top 3 worst chemical in the world.
It take up to 15 years to get it out you system. I imagine thats why i get a flare up if I mistakenly wipe only once with regular paper. I've been kicked if another forum for give clinic name, toilet paper name, basically too much info. I wanted to help others as i did not want to live with this condition. Do your research and you will find toilet paper bleached with hydrogen peroxide. I began the garlic 2 months ago just to help maintain healthy skin
