Health anxiety over two hard lumps in my arm

Posted , 2 users are following.

I would say I am a recovered hypochondriac. I struggled with hypochondria majorly in my teens. I'm in my twenties now and don't spiral like I used to. At least, I hadn't in years. About one or two months ago I noticed two small, hard, painless lumps on my upper arm. Thought nothing of it thinking they were zits/cysts and that they would go away. They haven't. I'm starting to get really nervous which is effecting my college classes that I have to pass. I am going to make a dermatology appointment but won't be able to be seen for months. All of this anxiety is killing me. Anyone have any advice? Thank you and much love.

hi. I’m sorry you are going through all of this. And I know how stressful these things can be especially when you’re trying to study.but I want you to know that the vast majority of lumps in the arm or leg or most other places are nothing to worry about. Most of the time they are what is called a lipoma which is just a fatty lump that is nothing serious. In fact they are very common .

my friend had one of those and he was freaking out worried all the time but it turned out to be a lipoma so all is fine.

so my advice to you would be while you are waiting to see the doctor, just remember this and get deep into your studies so that you can do well.

remember that When we use our emotions to come up with conclusions, our mind does not think rationally, it only thinks negatively and that is not based on logic or fact. So it’s important to think factually which is what I just said about The vast majority of the lumps are lipomas. it is rarely a cause for concern. another thing it could be is a cyst due to a clogged oil gland and they can feel like hard lumps. Nothing to be concerned of for that.

So, take a nice deep breath, relax, get through your classes and stay busy.

remember that the word fear stands for false evidence appearing real.

you can always go on YouTube if you want to relax and search for some meditations for anxiety or just relaxation meditation’s. They really help. you’re going to be OK! ❤

Thank you so much for this reply! It really helped calm my nerves. I was able to schedule an appointment for three months from now so I am going to try and hold off my anxious thoughts until then. I will look back at your reply when I feel myself spiraling. Thank you again.
