Health anxiety - please help

I've had anxiety for many years. The last few years my health anxiety has been really bad. Name a symptom, I’ve probably had it. For a couple weeks I've been congested and one ear feels like it’s plugged up plus occasionally I would smell what I can only describe as a burnt odor. Went to the doctor and was told I have a sinus infection and prescribed an antibiotic and nasal spray. I finished the antibiotic a week ago and still occasionally can smell an odd odor. Of course I googled this symptom and saw brain tumor. Now that’s all I can think about. I don’t have any other symptoms. Has anyone else had this happen? This has made my anxiety go through the roof

Pam I’m sorry you are going through this. I have also had anxiety for many years and have had every symptom you can think of. I have heard of many people who have anxiety developing that odd odor. I also know that a sinus infection can cause an odd odor. even though you have finished the antibiotic a week ago, it could still be possible that there is a lingering odor. Either that or it’s from anxiety in general. I have no idea where the odor comes into play but I have heard that from people with anxiety.

as you know, anxiety causes us to overthink everything. So I would say don’t Google any symptoms. You said you’re not having any other symptoms so I’m sure it’s not anything serious. You can take any symptoms and apply it to so many non-serious conditions . just give it some time and I would bet that the odor goes away. Drink lots of water to flush everything out after your sinus infection. have a good evening!
