Health anxiety stopping me from having one off diazepam to help my anxiety! Help

hi,

i have had severe bouts if anxiety and depression and have taken medication for it but recently i jave terrible health anxiety amongst other things and GP has prescribed small amount of 5mg diazepam for when i am very bad and need ti take as a one off. my stupid brain wont let me take it in case i have a reaction or feel worse etc. i know this is my health anxiety talking but has anybody else felt this?

    I know exactly how you feel. I to have pretty bad health anxiety and worse when it comes to meds. Is someone home with you? My suggestion would to be to take half. Thats a very small amount if you tolerate it then you can take the other half if need be. Im really sorry your going through this I know how hard it is.

      hi, thanks for replying. Yes i have my husband and young daughter at home. Thats a good idea and i nearly took it last night. Got as far as putting it on my tongue then spat it out!! So stupid and not logical but thats the nature of it. Sorry you suffer from it too x

    hello yes I'm the same I got so bad I had to go to hospital and they gave me a lorazepan which I didn't want to take but they said it would make you feel better and relax you so I took it and I felt fine I was able to relax and actually eat something for the first time in 2 weeks. they do work your be surprised what help they actually give you. xx

    thanks for replying. i still havent plucked uo the courage to take one but your replies are helping me! hopefully if i need one, ill just take it and by the time it works, i wont have a chance to worry

    im the same recently got bad health anxiety and i got diazepam they do help but you i was the same dont like mixing medication im already on propanol and sertsline
