I'm in the UK and haven't had a problem but I have it through my bank. Have you tried eurotunnel? They cover cancers etc . I know many people who have had cover when undergoing treatment as long as a doctor hasn't said you are not allowed to travel. I've not used them but Macmillan have them on their list.

I use staysure they are really good, you enter your diagnosis then add any medication you are taking x

It will depend on whether you are going out of Europe. I have only made suggestions for within Europe.

Most of my friends had no problems getting cover for PMR - even the cover that comes with a bank account would do it though some added a few quid to the cost.

I assume you mean for holidays? Or do you? You won't get private medical insurance to cover any chronic illness - even people with cover when they are diagnosed are usually informed either their premium will be silly money or they won't be covered for anything associated with the PMR after renewal.

And that, my friends, will be the case if the NHS goes under! As well as it being pretty likely if there is "No deal" that European holiday health cover will be the same sort of price as "the Rest of the World including the USA and China" is now. One friend was quoted £1700 for "all world" because of calling at A&E for atrial fibrillation - no treatment required though.

Seems such a shame that the NHS is going under. Must admit that there are many failings regarding the running of the whole system.

There are - but everyone does need to get behind it and lobby for some sense. Much of the problem is the relentless cuts in budgets year on year for the best part of 20 years. My husband had pared his department to the bone before he gave up the unequal struggle and retired - that was nearly 10 years ago and the cuts have been going on since. There is no wonder it is in a mess. The staff have been saying this for much longer than 10 years - but no-one listened...

I know they are under such pressure as are many other public services. The overburdened staff do a wonderful job above and beyond as happens in other areas. I, too, was well aware of it when I retired over 10 years ago. We are an ageing population and because of advances in medicine etc we are living longer. It's all creaking under this weight of staff shortages and not enough forward planning. Having said that my husband and others I know have had and are having an amazing service despite the problems. I'm not going down the road of politics but there's been so much waste everywhere that we are now suffering the consequences. I'll stop there.... enough said.
