Health OCD Taking Over my Life

Posted , 2 users are following.

I have health OCD. ERP did not work and I'm having a consultation soon after reaching the front of the waiting list for treatment. What do I do? I have a job that I love and a daughter but I finf myself constantly worrying and checking for lumps to the point I sometimes don't get the required amount of work done or enjoy my day. I've been to private appointments and all has been well. I like things to feel the same on both sides and panic when they are not. How do I stop checking or how do I find lumps and not panic about them to the point I have to book a doctors appointments. I just want to enjoy my job and life which is brilliant apart from this.

Betty I did that for years and what a waste of my life! One thing to remember is that the human body is not perfect and it’s not going to feel the same on both sides most of the time. People get sensations all the time and the vast majority of which are not serious.

if you are worrying to the point of missing out on the present moment then you are worrying too much. I found that my life was going by and I wasn’t even enjoying it. That’s obsessive. Have you had any counseling for this? It did help me a lot. now I am much happier because I get my yearly physical check up which includes my preventative screenings, lab work, etc.

when that is OK, then I live my life, Take care of my health and enjoy every moment i can. I do hope the same for you.! if I can do it so can you. ❤
