Hearing Aids

Hi 🙋 everyone
I have just one quick question regarding hearing aids.
I have heard from my doctor, that a hearing aid helps against tinnitus.
Is this true?, as I suffer with this non-stop.

I tried using cotton wool a good while back and for a number of years, but now the tinnitus has gotten worse to the extent that my hearing is muffled.
The sound that I am getting is a constant tone. I have also noticed that I have to put the television 📺 volume 📣 higher and missing some of the conversation from those around me. Thought id ask about the hearing aid as my GP did look in my ears and they are clear from wax or any infection and said to me have you tried hearing aids? He is ordering me some of the basic models to try for the time being until I see the ENT consultant.
Anyway, I would like to say thankyou for help with this matter.
ONE LAST THING:
I don't know if your old enough to remember the old test card the BBC had before television programs started and you got the high pitch tone...well this is what I am getting now.
Anyway, thanks for your help.

Thanks for your reply. The worst thing is, when I watch the television 📺, I have to increase the volume 📣 to hear the program in question.
Anyway...thanks for your help in this matter.

Thanks for your feedback. I have an appointment with my doctor, who is aware of the problem and will be having a full assessment following I will be referred to an ENT for further tests including an hearing.
Many thanks
