hi, i was hoping someone could help me out with the SSHL
i loss my hearing at the age of 17, doctors were shocked because this ussally happens to peaople over 30... they said that the loss was due to stess and sadness but i couldnt figure out what exactly i was stressed about. i lost 98% of my hearing in the left ear and they send me to theapy straight away, i missed a month and a half of my senior year of high school due to this. after the therapy my ear improved drastically and now i can hear 40% and have complaetly lost 60%. im 18 now and there isnt much i can do anymore. i will soon go and get a hearing aid but i still am not so sure about it. i have coped with the loss off hearing but the rining in my ear makes me go crazy. so my question is, do you recomend a hearing aid? will it stop of perhaps lessen the rining in my ear? thanks for your time

You're probably best just doing some research for what hearing aid is most suitable for you and get advice from a specialist. There are also masking machines out there for when you go to sleep at night.
I got my ringing from a virus and then playing football, it's stayed ever since in one ear but I don't notice it anymore really as over time it gets better.
You are in a different situation to me though as you have lost some hearing so the ringing will be louder.
Don't worry it will get better, I know how annoying it is though but try and sort your sleeping out by getting a masking machine for night time when it's just silence.

I can’t believe how young you was when you first lost your hearing, very unfortunate poor you. I would defiantly get an hearing aid, to help with your hearing but I don’t think it will help with the reining its self.
I have accepted my tinnitus and it no longer bothers me, I just sleep with the TV on at night – mines in both ears and its damaged from loud noises and maybe some drug taking MDMA, and I have hearing loss in my right ear really messed me up.. just accept it young one J yours might go if the causes are what you been told.

I have tinnitus about 7 weeks as I heard hissing sound in my left ear, I believe its damaged from loud music, I went to local pub to celebrate new year where it was loud music we stayed there almost for 2 hours, I didn't hear any extra sounds until one week later, my left ear was blocked.
I went to see ENT consultant the other day and I have hear test which was normal no hearing loss, so they referred to MRI scan in hospital.
How long did you have tinnitus and how can you cope and living with tinnitus?
At the moment my T is quite constant 24/7 hissing sounds, I didn't get sleep at all I have to take pills at night to help me sleep. Have you had any idea or advise you can give me to cope with tinnitus? Someone told me it will take time to habituate the noise as brain will adjust and get used to the noise from time to time.
Can anyone has experience of this please drop me a line.
Thank you
