Hearing Random words from random noises !

hey guys , i suffer from anxiety only and i had taken all the tests to see if i will develop any kind of serious mental illness in the future and my psychiatrist told me every single time to calm down and that everything is fine with me !

i started taking Sertraline since i was 17 (im now 23) and i am very aware and afraid of my mental health .. i am scared that i will develop any kind of a serious mental illness like serious depression or schizophrenia ..

sometimes i hear completely RANDOM words jumping into my head in my own voice , and after i hear it i can actually do it again by thinking about the word ..

and sometimes i hear words or really quiet words when my Fan is turned on (white noise) .

i googled it and it seems like auditory pareidolia..

im scared that im going insane ! help 😕

Hi Marcus I am fairly certain that you are not going insane. I have suffered anxiety and depression for most of my life and I am still sane even though I feel like im going insane at times. When I first wake up in the morning sometimes I have random words or phrases come into my head that make no sense at all and it can be scary. Its like I have no control over it. I am a very observant person and I can see things that others cant. I have been like this for a long time and its just a part of me and who I am. It doesnt scare me cause I know its just my brain interpreting things differently to other people. Even if you suffer from anxiety doesnt mean you will get a serious mental illness and pretty sure you wont get schizophrenia from having anxiety. I now suffer from cptsd and a dissociative disorder now because of past trauma, domestic violence and grief and being alone 24/7 doesnt help me as all i do is sit here and think. Please try and breath and relax, I know its easier said than dont. I hope I have helped even just a little bit. Stay strong and take care.

Kayleigh , the one thing i can tell you is that if you are aware of yourself and you are scared to become insane so everything is fine with you .

it happens to me alot , everytime im about to fall asleep i hear people talking and sometimes even music .

i asked my psychiatrist what was it and she said its completely normal , its called Hypnagogia , read about it on google.

remember that "people who are scared to become insane are not insane because they are aware to themselves , but insane people think that everything they think and feel is legitimate and normal".

    Hi Marcus

Take a deep breath and be reassured your not going insane. I think majority of us on this forum have feared a number of times we are going crazy or we are losing our minds. It such a common symptom of anxiety. I remember sitting on the edge of my bed once crying my eyes out, pulling my hair and begging for it to get out of my head and to leave me alone. It is a cruel illness. Have you had help with your racing thoughts?

I promise it does get easier and it will get easier. It takes times, some stumbles along the way but there is always a way out. I had my break down in 2017 and only now im coming out of it. I still have days where i am over whelmed with anxiety, but you learn to deal with it better. Anxiety is apart of your personality. Im 25 myself soon to be 26 🙈. I was on medication sertraline being one of them and it just didnt agree with me.

after taking sertraline since i was 17 (23 today) and tried to taper off the medication gradually because i felt good with 0! and i mean ZERO anxiety , i started to become anxious again .. after 2 weeks feeling anxious i decided that ill start taking the pills again but they came back with side effects like insomnia and restless leg syndrome .. but now i dont have insomnia and no RLS because i was on 100mg but now the new psychiatrist told me to get to 200 and leave it like that for a month and more and see how im doing ..

what scares me the most is that ill develop depression .. i love my life and want to live then to the fullest and i even told that to my psychiatrist and he told me that a depressed person doesnt talk like that .. its just i want to have fun and go out and travel but i dont have energy because im a couch potato lol ..

We all have fears. My fear is having a heart attack your fear is having depression. Do not let your fear become an obsession like mine has. The more you fear something the more you think about it and the more you try not to think about something the more you actually think about it. The sertraline is already treating you so its probabaly highly unlikely you will develop depression. Just because you develop depression does not mean you will become suicidal and hate life. Its something that can get better. If you can anxiety just like you did before you can beat depression. xx

i fear from having a heart attack or a cardiac arrest too ! it even gotten worse after one of my close friends had 3 cardiac arrests one after another and eventually died .. it was a shock to all of us. but if you get some symptoms and you go and check that everything is alright so there is no need to be afraid
