Is a systolic heart murmur serious? I went to the Dr and he told me that I have a systolic heart murmur. I'm feeling this tight pulling across the top of my ribcage on the left side

Hi Ethan
No, systolic heart murmur is not a seriously concerning condition.
You have in the centre of your heart a 'septum' separating the left and right side. At birth the septum closes. In some babies this doesn't close fully allowing a tiny amount of blood to return to the left side of the heart on each systolic beat which is what your Dr heard through the stethoscope. Lots of us are walking around not even knowing we have this condition. Had this been a severe hole it would have been picked up at birth. Don't worry.
