If you have it all the time, definitely go to see a doctor about your anxiety.  It happens when you're anxious a lot, and it stresses your heart out from all the tension.  Just go see a doctor and you should be ok, I've had palpitations because of anxiety too.

I take sertraline for my anxiety and it's usually controlled but when I have episodes like this I find it hard to snap out of it. I recently halfed my doseage maybe that's what set the anxiety off

Hi Gem I have suffered badly from palpitations with anxiety and panic attacks. I've been put on Sertraline by the doc and been on them nearly 4 weeks. Still get it slightly from time to time but I'm getting better. Don't know if you've been prescribed anything but you should see your doc just to calm your mind that it is nothing serious to do with your heart but the anxiety that is causing it. Hope you get sorted.

Hi I think I'm going to go back to my doctors as I recently halfed my doseage of sertraline but think maybe I need to go back up to 50mg

I've been prescribed Sertraline recently and have had palpitations too. I'm hoping my body will get used to it soon and I'll feel better. Sorry your Mum isn't around, try and talk to someone or your doctor. Hugs. XX

Anxiety causes your heart to race due to the flight or fight hormones released when you are worried. It's adrenaline which was great help when we were cave men and saved our lives. If you try and accept that it's the anxiety causing your heart to pump and probably other physical symptoms like churning stomach and sweating too you can attempt to slow your thoughts down. You can control this. Find some meditation apps and try and go with the feeling. How old are you? Are you alone now?

Yes ur totally right ! Thank you ! I know it's all in the mind but sometimes it over powers me ! Yeah I'm alone now, I'm 24. I did do some meditation last night and it really helped me go sleep after I was relaxed so I will give it another go tonight

Hi gem101, I had the same when I started sertraline, I was home alone and ended up ringing doc on call but he reassured me it was just anxiety! They settled after a week or that then a few months in came back again all the time so I had the 24hour monitor on. It showed up palpitations but nothing dangerous! And I swear it was the change of the brand of tablets so I've stuck to a different one since, I still have them regularly but nothing like before now my anxiety is settled! If u feel u need to be reassured them ask your doctor for a monitor, it'l b the first thing to help u! Good luck! I've been on 50mg for about 9/10 months and I'm lots better with them and CBT
