Heart palpitations

Hi all. I'm 47 and been dealing with perimenopause for 3-4 years now. If there's a symptom, I've had it. In the beginning, my periods started coming closer together, then they were coming every other month, and now I haven' had a period since early May. My symptoms all started with heart palpitations and they subsided after a few weeks, maybe a couple months? hard to remember now. But now they're back. They're awful. They happen all day long (but oddly, not while I'm sleeping) and are worse when I'm at rest rather than when I'm active (or maybe I just notice them more). I just don't know how to deal with them. I saw my doctor about them when they first happened years ago and she told me they are more of a nuisance than harmful and to just try to ignore them/adjust to them, so I am hesitant to go back to her (plus the fact that I've put on ~10 pounds since I last saw her). Any tips/suggestions/advice? Thanks!

My diet is pretty normal - not excessively healthy nor unhealthy. I do drink plenty of water. No magnesium supplementation, but I do take a daily multivitamin. I'm finding the palpitations are worse in the morning and better in the afternoon/evening.

Just thought I'd come back in with a quick update. I finally decided to go see my doctor earlier this week. Of course, by the time I got to her office, my palpitations had mostly subsided. She did see one little PAC at the tail end of my EKG, but it was very minor. However, my blood pressure was really high (I do have diagnosed HBP and am on meds, but they clearly were not working) as was my pulse. The nurse took blood to check my thyroid, CBC, metabolites and magnesium. Got those results back next day and all was within normal range, although both magnesium and potassium were on the low side of normal. My doc tweaked my BP meds and had me start both Mg and K supplements. I am 3 days into the new routine and having my best day so far. Palpitations were relatively quiet until just a bit ago, hoping they settle back down and am encouraged at the change.

I'm having those right now along with air hunger. I can deal with the palps, but the air hunger is miserable. Woke up last night feeling like I can't breath. All this causes terrible anxiety. I have a little trick I do to know my oxygen is normal. Push on your fingernail and if it turns from white to red in less than 3 seconds you've got good oxygen. Learned that in nursing school.

Hi! So glad they have diminished for you again. I have them 24/7... Including when I sleep. For me they are more prominent at rest also. Apparently that's quite normal with rogue electrical signals as the lower the heart rate the more chance the ectopics will get in. I have had a stress Echo which confirmed they go away when my heart rate rises.
Started suddenly out of the blue in May and no sign of them going away yet. It's very frustrating. I started HRT and they are a bit less severe in sensation now at least. But also I am learning to try to ignore them rather than focus on them.
