    Hi Hayley,

When I first experienced heart palpitations they were horrendous, I had two huge panic attacks that started it all about 18 years ago, this was following a few months having health anxieties and obsessions, constantly checking my own pulse and complexion etc. I get them infrequently now, usually when I am bloated and I believe it's my pulse I can feel from my stomach squishing on my aorta or something. Have you been to the doctors to have other things ruled out? I started having missed beats a year or so ago due to medication reduction (Citalopram), these were harmless and eventually settled. Do you feel nervous or anything prior to then starting or do they just appear out of the blue? If your anxious about you own health then perhaps your subconscious starts to notice you heartbeat or other sensations in the body, as your fine tuned into noticing these things as they worry you, this increases your anxiety and elevates your heart rate, which you notice even more and begins the vicious cycle. If they are completely random however, and you haven't had them investigated, then I would see the doctor. If they come on constantly then go to A&E, not to say they mean anything and are probably harmless, but I was a triage nurse and I'd sooner you were safe!
