Heart palpitations. Subconscious anxiety? Is that a thing?

Is this just a coincidence? had heart palpitations and skipped beats when we went on a 2-day trip to London on Monday on and off and then part of Tuesday but fine in evening when home. Totally fine for the rest of the week. Had holter monitor fitted 24 hours Wed into Thursday. Fine Friday then tonight getting romantic dinner ready for me and partner I get the same happen. Is it anxiety /anxious / excitement induced but subconsciously? I thought I was ok in London and last night I was happy as I'd made heart cakes and dinner and candles etc. Then boom out came out of nowhere.

I too have had weird symptoms when I didn't think I was even anxious. I just got over having weird tremors when I sleep last month (totally new to me and Im 40) Then in the past couple weeks heart palpitations when I least expect it.Overall Im anxious right now bc of this darned virus but I find it weird that this stuff can happen when we dont feel overly anxious

The really weird thing is I'm not actually getting anxious about the virus yet because it seems so surreal. I don't know why because I managed to worry about everything else under the sun especially health issues.

Absolutely it is. You can have palpitations, panic attacks and all sorts of things even when consciously calm.
You can also have very many ectopic beats a day and just need a lifestyle change (such as cutting down on coffee or stress).

I've been getting them this week due to severe anxiety with the Coronavirus situation.
They play tricks on your mind. It is mostly perceived. i.e. You feel that your heart is pounding but it is not actually beating harder than usual. You think it is beating rapidly but if you actually measure it you will find it's normal. If you get nervous about it then it will actually increase.
Breathing slowly through your stomach can subdue the palpitations. A distraction also works. I find that if I distract myself, i.e. phone, the palpitation goes away immediately.

It's exactly what happens with me and then I get a worried about it so that consequently I'm anxious.

Hi Jumar, Try to relax and avoid stress until the results of your 24hr monitor, not all palpitations are the same but, yes, there are benign/functional ones, meaning they are not serious, don't last long, don't do damage & do not have anything to do with the heart's ability to work...things like, caffeine(in soda, chocolate & etc...), stress, anxiety, age and numerous other things can cause them..Take Care & BEST WISHES💒☮🍀🌈♾🐾🎶💞

Thank you. it is actually anxiety induced but I'm struggling to actually believe it. Been prescribed propranolol but scared to take it.

Hi Jumar, When I have tried a few new medications, I took them for the first time in the parking lot of a clinic or hospital, or have someone stay with you for the 1st dose...any life threatening allergy would be rare but, it would be during the first dose, other side effects are more likely to happen in the first few weeks...IF AT ALL, it can possibly help you with your anxiety....it also depends on dosage, start with a low dose, if it goes okay your DR can always increase it...read the info that comes with the medicine but, just know they include EVERY possible side effect, ANYBODY has ever experienced, if your Dr prescribed it, it should be safe to try, GOOD LUCK🍀☮
