Hi first off you need to believe and trust your Doc and cardiologist, secondly you need to know that if you are anxious and suffering with panic all these things will have a physical response, heart palpitations, skipped beats, weakness etc as too many to mention, how old are you, is your diet and weight ok and do you exercise.

Yes you need to stop smoking, if you have a fear of collapsing with your heart then why would you continue, I stopped and felt so much better, you don't need something to replace it with you have will power

Were you told to not do exercise?? I don't think so, for your age you are either not very tall or maybe underweight, your diets probably poor as well, I think exercise would actually help and I think you need to get your vitamin levels checked including vitamin d

Hi Alexandria is right, it is essential for your health and life that you stop. It must be very worrying to have heart problems but you must take control. I stopped using champix tablets, perhaps you can buy a course on the internet? You can also think about self help dvds and books. Alan Carrs Easyway book is excellent and I think theres also a dvd to accompany the book. Whilst considering this, smoke lower nicotine cigs, think about where and when you smoke and start to be these habits, reduce the amount you smoke by 10% each week... When stopping, I was told to keep telling myself 'why are I paying money to poison myself'. Tell yourself this is the first steps towards stopping smoking, now youre working out how to stop, and in a few weeks you will be a non smoker and your health will improve dramatically. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Hi Monica I don't think he actually has a heart condition but he does suffer with really bad anxiety and possibly health anxiety, giving up smoking is something he needs to do to help him be healthy so anything that can help him quit would be better than continuing smoking, I know what you mean though.

Stopping smoking for yourself is the only way and good advice.

Stopping for someone else puts the responsibilty for your choices on other people.... Won't work.

Smoking affects the vessels that supply blood to your heart and other parts of your body. It reduces the amount of oxygen in your blood and damages blood vessel walls.

Smoking contributes to atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis occurs when there is narrowing and clogging of the arteries which reduces blood supply, and the amount of oxygen available, throughout the body.

These forums are great for sharing information, but often it falls short.

What I mean is, if you look at the previous comments, everyone is encouraging you to stop, but finding something that works is the problem... The support is in the forum.... The solution may be elsewhere.

I have not smoked for almost 31 years and have taught several hundred others how to stop.

I also am a cardiac patient. The 26th of this month will mark 2 years ago that I had a massive heart attack. Had I been smoking at the time, I would never have survived.

I am not sure if sharing a website in this forum is appropriate.

Does anyone know the rules ?
