Heart raced the other day after ablation success.

My heart raced the other day. I had a successful ablation about two months ago. Anyway I called an ambulance, of course by the time I got in it came down, asked about the EKG they said it looked normal still. I do suffer from anxiety and stress of course. I got to the hospital and they also did an EKG and they said it was normal and that it was my anxiety that made that happen. After that I talked to my EP team and they didnt seem to worried about it or at least they haven't called me back to tell me something is wrong or I need to be put on a monitor. Just last week I had a echo done and they said it came out great. I didn't think anxiety would cause my heart to race. Has anyone had this happen after their ablation?

Anxiety causes a rush of adrenaline which causes your heart to race in sinus rhythm.

Great to hear that your ablation was a success.

Thank you and sure does. I'm on anxiety meds for now to help with my anxiety so far it's helping. I'm hoping I can eventually handle it on my own and not be dependent on it.

      Hi there,

Were you on anxiety meds when you had the ablation?

Yeah but on a very low dose 0.5 clozanepam. Now I'm on paxil 12.5 a day and 1mg clozanepam as needed. Its helping as it seems my heart rates have been a little better. Plus the other day I was put on a 24hr monitor. I'm waiting for the results.

That is interesting. Last June I had an unsuccessful ablation.  The EP specialist thinks it was because I was on clozanepam.  Hated to be one of the 3%  of being unsuccessful.

he wants to do the ablation again, but I have to be free of the clonazepam and trazodone.  Not nice weaning off

I started at .5mg of Clon and am down to .125 mg  and

started at 75 mg. of Trazodone and am down to 50 mg

Really, what made him think it was the clonazepam? I'm supposed to wean off of it here soon and stick to the paxil.

Was it unsuccessful at the time of the procedure or did the arrhythmia come back after the procedure?

He just said he thinks it was the Clon. He has only had 2 procedures in 11 years that did not work. The other guy who;s did not work was so anxious that they gave him a sedation.

Of all the hundred's of these procedure he hs done, you would like other people were or had been on something.

i am not sure what you are asking me in the next comment.

They could not find the irregular circuit during the mapping.

I still get tachey. Hope I have answered you question

Oh okay and to my luck just last night my heart raced again, this time I didn't go to the er as I managed to bring it down on my own and I didn't feel lightheaded or short of breath. I checked my pulse and it was at 161, bp at one point was 140/111. But it Went down quickly. I'm gonna have to give me ep a call.

Could be, but I dont have a monitor or a EKG that can catch it they will keep saying it's anxiety. I tried to tell my ep what's happening but they don't seem too concerned. My GP actually gave a 24hr monitor but of course nothing happened, I'm trying to get my ep to get me a 30 day one. Other thing is other people in other forums say this is normal as the heart healing so I keep hearing different things from different people.
