Hi Stephx, I know this may not be what you want to here but it does sound like anxiety. I suffer from it too, at times i feel so overwhelmed by anxiety that i can feel my heart racing uncontrollably and the more i focus on it the worse it becomes. when you are in a high rate of anxiety the body, especiially the shoulders, chest and back can hold so much tension that it begins to cause aches and pains. I also feel my back and chest so tight sometimes that i have pains. it is probably not a coincidence that this is happening to you at this time considering the terrible memories of miscarriage a year ago. I hope this helps x

Hi Steph, i do believe that your body is responding to adrenalin which is cause by the mind triggering it to be released. If your labs came back good, then it would seem to be driven by your subconcious. A physical cause would have shown up as an abnrmal chemistry somewhere.. Nicotine can increase that chemical release. Try to sit quietly, and breathe to a count of 1,2,3,4,5 out, 1,2,3,4,5 and keep focu on the breath and the count. Do not allow your mind to wonder. Just the breath. See if the heart stops racing. I hope this helps. You are loved! You are strong! And you are healthy. Kathy

Okay I went through the same thing & every time the doctors would tell me you're ok I still felt they were wrong.. I had never gotten a panic attack & at a certain time in my life (very stressed out) I started having them.. My first elevated heart rate was almost at 200.. I was in the ER for chest pain & I was laying there waiting for my results.. And all of a sudden my heart rate started going up & up & I felt it.. They did tests but everything was normal.. It was anxiety! They told me to see a cardiologist & so I did.. They did 24 hour holter & US on my heart.. NORMAL! So as much as I kept telling myself something was wrong.. It was anxiety! If you feel something is wrong then get tests done but you can only do so many tests before u have to realize it's anxiety.. Anxiety is horrible.. Makes you think the worst. Hope you find your answers but stress and worrying makes it worst.. Try to relax & think positive.. And another thing I found out the hard way with anxiety sometimes your mind can play tricks on you.. The next time your heart races.. Breathe & try to calm yourself down..

    Hi the cigarette didn't help

nicotine Vaso dilator this allows a rush of blood causing palpitations but it also reduces oxygen so your heart has to beat much harder and beat first as you are simulating a heart attack as not only did you reduce oxygen you are also putting an assortment of poisons into your heart and blood supply

so yes the pain in your back is your heart struggling to work properly

follow advice count through regulate your oxygen give up cigs and have some help for the misscarriage as the reason hasn't been explained and you (understandably) still carry the sadness guilt etc

    hope you feel better soon

Sorry for your loss Steph, but this does sound like classic anxiety. One of the most common reactions to being in an anxious state is to believe that something is terribly wrong with you. If you have been checked out by doctor or hospital and found to be ok then it is anxiety. There is nothing wrong with you apart from feeling anxious. When anxiety is triggered in the body by stress (and you have had a very stressful time), the mind seaches for what is wrong. It will then come up with all sorts of things that could be wrong with you (usually 'I'm having a heart attack' or 'I'm going mad'). None of it is true. It is just your anxious mind seeking a reason for your body being anxious. Also, your heart is the strongest muscle in the body. It is incredibly tough. It can easily deal with a very high heart rate for a long period of time with no ill effects so no need to worry about it. Your pains are caused by muscle tension. You say you have felt like this since your miscarriage so doesn't it make sense that this is the cause of your distress? You have had a loss and are grieving. You may need to find a safe space to let this out, like seeing a counsellor or you could contact CRUSE (a national breavement service). You pay what you can afford. Grief can affect people in different ways, particularly anger and anxiety as well as sadness and this may be what you are experiencing. Good luck.

Hi, I have had and still have this sometimes all day and it has been day after day sometimes. I've had Ecg done and racing along and people have said really strong heartbeat but also had the chest pain, pain in leg arm and in boob and back aswell . It is awful and makes me feel ill. I battle with it but have been advised it is anxiety. I try to reason as say to myself if was a heart attack I'm sure it would have happened by now anyway .

Doctors do say it's my anxiety and won't give me further tests so I have to now battle on . We just have to try too reason with ourselves and say ok so your worst. I sometimes even shout at myself bring it on. Sometimes it has actually helped. I have found having a cigarette actually makes me worse and have found

Myself totally cutting them down and hasn't bt here's me cause they really do make me feel worse. I hope your feeling a

But calmer give yourself a hug and be kind

    To yourself x
