I am heartsick for you- my first visit at 3 weeks was only flex of 88 and ext of 45- I chose no formal pt after weak sessions of home pt. My main goal is to keep the swelling down so the knee CAN bend. Just start work on your own PT at home. Don't let time pass without you working a little bit several times a day. Just try pushing it to the point of being uncomfortable but you don't have to hurt yourself. Do heel slides do extensions do it all and then ice forever

Sorry to hear this! Post op complications left me with 95 flexion and -45 extension.at 5 months post op. Surgeon said MUA would help but I had to work on extension. Scar tissue could be felt as hard spots and ridges around incision and back of knee. I started 3X weekly PT and weekly massage therapy to massage and gradually stretch muscles. To break up the scar tissue they both used a Gua Sha tool with magnesium lotion. Magnesium helps to relax muscles so I did Epsom salt baths nightly and did stretching exercises too. I also take a magnesium supplement daily. Leg warmers worn 24/7 help to keep muscles warm and flexible. Elevating and icing after exercising for twenty minutes then heat helped me. Over the winter, I sit in front of a portable heater to warm my leg and find it's easier to flex and extend. It took 8-10 weeks to break up the scar tissue. A JAS brace (in US needs prescription) worn 30 minutes 3X daily was important to gradually increase and hold stretch of muscles for extension and flexion. As scar tissue broke up, I was able to flex and extend gradually to now having flexion at 125 and extension at zero. I'm 67 and was determined to avoid surgery as he right knee needs replacement this year. I am better prepared for the next one! Swelling also affects flexion and extension
Good Luck!

If MUA didn't work under anesthesia, it makes no sense they would do it in an office with no pain control. If you have swelling, nerve or muscles that are hindering your ability to straighten and bend your leg, it seems it would be a traumatic experience. Will your doctor write a scrip for a JAS brace? It's a metal frame with a crank you control to very gradually bend your leg while strapped into the frame and then wear it for 30 minutes 3X daily. The therapist told me people get results within 3-6 months of use. It took me about 10 weeks.
