Heart thumping??/

Hi, I'm 16 years old and I have this weird thumping in my chest and im really scared. I was sitting down and suddently I felt a weird thump/flip flop in the lower part of my chest towards the right while I was stretching. It only lasted a second, but it freaked me out and now I can't stop thinking about it. I had an ECG before that came out normal, but I'm terrified that my hearts gonna start beating weird and that it will lead to something serious.

Hi Janel, Yes, it could be anxiety, stress, muscle spasm or a palpitation but, not all palpitations are serious, some are temporary and harmless, worrying about it can actually make it happen again and wont help, so if it happens again, you should get your Dr to check you out, if its anxiety you need to get it under control right away, so you have proper coping mechanisms to prevent it from getting worse and to deal with stress when things happen in your life...try to relax and keep talking to people if it helps, good to have close relationships of family & friends...come back here if you need to chat or have questions, lots of good people here!! Sounds very much like heart palpitations. I get them these days too due to anxiety over the Coronavirus situation. Mine can last up to an hour.

Just know it is completely perceived. If you feel your pulse or measure your heart-rate you'll realise it's all normal, i.e. you heart is NOT jumping out of your chest.
