Heart worries

Hello all

first i wanna apologize for my English as it's not my main language.

Here's the story:

I'm male, 25 years old, smoking pack a day and drinking beer few times a week.

One year ago i started getting chest pains (more as a pressure) in middle or left side. I also get dizzy and get feeling of impending doom.

Last year i was 3-4 times at ER and every time they did ECG and blood work and everything is OK. They told me it's definitely not my heart and it's probably muscles.

After that i had endoscopy and they told me that i have gastritis, GERD and hiatal hernia and i started to drink pantoprazole for few months but it didn't help so i stopped. Here and there ranitidine helps.

Few weeks ago i started to have left arm and jaw tightness and heart palpations (mainly when i lie down in bed) that scared me like hell. It's happening 90% when i'm at rest.

I'm worried that i have problems with my heart and that i'm gonna get heart attack. Is it possible that GERD mimics all those symptoms? What should i do next? When i drink 5 beers, all symptoms disappear until next day.

I forgot to write, there is no heart diseases in my family.

When i move (mowing a lawn or something like that, pain is 90% gone).

First off remember that this is a UK based service.

Secondly you should realise that this is not a substitute for seeking real medical attention.

Now to the nitty gritty, you are saying that you are scared you are going to have a heart attack but in the same post you say you smoke a packet of cigarettes a day, how does that make sense

Stop smoking then come back and ask for advice but you might find you don't need it.

See your GP to get reassessed and advice how to quit the smokes, good luck

    Hi Siljo91

it sounds like you taken the right steps in trying to resolve your current issues. If you are still really concerned about your heart go see a heart specialist. Put your mind at ease. Having gastritis and hiatal hernia can mimic heart issues in certain people. you should NOT be drinking beer or any alcohol for that matter, you won't heal. Same with smoking. You should stay away from chocolate, caffine, sugar substitute, fried foods, uncooked vegtables, soda, onions, green peppers, fatty, greasy foods, sweets and coffee or tea. Follow this while taking your medication. Try a heating pad on your stomach where the pain is. Sleep with your head elevated at 6". Drink a cup of plain hot water after your meals, this aids in digestion. Exercise lightly, like walking. Don't wear tight clothing

    Hope this helps

    Thank you all for reply.

Well, i know that smoking is really bad but problem is that it's not so easy to stop at once. I stopped drinking coffee because i used to drink 5-6 cups daily on my job. From today i will stop drinking beer and see if that makes difference but i think it will.

Doctors at ER told me that i don't need any new tests because nothing is wrong with my heart. As i said, they did ECG and blood work multiple times and they checked my heart with stethoscope and no problem at all. I don't know what they can do more beside treadmill stress test.

I'm trying to think logically that everything is OK with my heart as i'm only 25 but the symptoms are so real and when i have all those symptoms i'm starting to get panic attacks and it's just bad circle.

I hope it's just gastritis and hiatal hernia.
