Heartbeat in my left ear

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hello,

Not sure what's going on but when I am sitting down I can periodically hear my heart beat in my left ear. I don't feel like it's beating really fast. I've had some head pressure issues for about 3 weeks and I'm getting that checked with my pcp currently but this symptom is new. Also sometimes I get some pain in my left arm but it goes away but seems to come back in the evening then when I wake up its not there . Is this normal? Is this an underlying heart issue or something wrong with my ear? Thanks!

    Hi Beth.

I have the same thing !

I saw my doctor and I am going for two scans. One is an x Ray of the artery going to the ear or something like that as it can be heart related the other is a hearing test.

The doctor seemed to think that the x Ray was quite urgent. There is some connection between the heart and the ears and it is to check this. Sorry not a very technical reply but you need to have an x Ray of your neck. It could also be blocked tubes in the ear eustashion tube ? (Can’t spell that!)  hope this helps.

      Hello Sarah,

Thank you for your reply! Have you found out a cause yet? I am seeing an ENT to see what's going on hopefully soon. I have had a CT scan of my sinuses which I had a few cysts in my maxillary and one in my sphenoid sinus but my Dr says these shouldn't cause symptoms. I also had a brain CT scan about a month ago which came back normal. Asked my pcp about this symptom and she didn't seem concerned and she said the pulse in my neck sounds normal but I'm still having the heart beat in my ear😔 A little frustrating but she sent a referral to an ENT so I'm hoping to find something out. Thank you, I hope you are doing well!

Definitely get it checked out.  Don't want to worry you but pain down the left arm

can indicate heart problem.  What you'e hearing is pulsating, could be a nerve,

or even blood pressure.  Get to see your doctor.  Hopefully, nothing wrong though.
