Heartbeat/palpitations in left back

Hello, I have been experiencing a pounding feeling in the left side of my back. The palpitations are in the same rhythm as my heartbeat and it is feelable in the whole left side of my back (towards the side rather than the spine).

I'm also having pain over the left side of my back. Mostly in the lower back towards the side, but also in the middle and upper back.

Also, my heartbeat is often feelable and visible in my stomach (I'm rather slim (no fat on stomach) and my abdominal muscles are not trained).

In the past year, the veins in my whole body (most in my hands/arms and feet/ankles/legs) have become more visible and I have tiny little red and blue veins on my feet, legs, chest, back, hands and face.

I also have a blue or purple web-like pattern on my legs often. Wenn I put my legs up, it disappears.

I have been to my doctor for the veins becoming more and more visible and she didn't think much of it. I haven't talked to her about my heartbeat being feelable in my back.

I would like to know what others think it might be and if it is necessary to visit my doctor. I don't want to go there if it is not really needed. Thanks in advance for your responses.

You probably need to visit a cardiologist. General practitioners sometimes don't get full ideas of certain conditions. I hope you get the help you need and that you feel better. Good luck!

Hi David, thanks for your reply. In my country (the Netherlands), I have to be referred to specialists by my GP; there are no exceptions. So I should go to my GP and get her to do tests/examination first in order to be able to go to a cardiologist.

I am afraid to be seen as a hypochondriac because of my bipolar diagnosis. Have been stable for years and not having any stress or anxiety, but somehow I have a stamp on my forehead that says all my physical problems are related to my mental health. Doctors seem to forget that patients with mental diagnoses also have a body like everyone else.

I will try to make an appointment with my GP. Is there anyone recognizing these issues that could help me with what I should mention at an appointment? I don't really know what to say and what not, as I have a lot of little symptoms that might or might not have anything to do with each other. An appointment is 10 minutes and I need to be able to say the most important things. Just don't know which symptoms are the most important to tell and have examined.

Thanks for any help and/or information!
