Hi, I also had this problem whilst I was taking Citalopram. ask your GP to prescribe you some Ranitidine - it works a treat.

All kinds of madness happen first few weeks. It does all stop though. Then its just head down ,press on and wait till you get better!

if you keep adding meds to your side effects is not very good.read your leaflet it states everything you are feeling .i had all those side effects plus more.and they all dissapeared in 8 months.this drug save my life.

if anything see if your doctor will prescribe a benzo.that will ease your side effects until you stabilize.

what do you mean adding meds?

as in taking meds to ease the side effects?

My heartburn worsened first few weeks but there were so many side effects it was too far down the list to bother with.

I found the nausea & vomiting the worst, then the sheer horror of waking up, thats if i got sleep!

You've gotta just hang in there until it eases. It will do though until your Dr ups your dose then its back for a gew days.

You'll get there. I've done nine weeks now ,i'm a lot better but at the moment my fingers are hurting me!

the only meds i would add to this celexa is ziplicone for sleep and a benzo for extra anxiety.all other meds added for sideeffects .have a tendency to have interactions .no bueno

im taking Propanolol for extra anxiety at the moment. going to GP TUESDAY as ive had heartburn all day & cant do anything, just a lump on the sofa!! 😦

glad to hear it passes and you are feeling better.

    hi again,

I did have horrific side effects for a long time and was actually off work for 5 months. whilst I agree with you Lois that its handy to have a benzo if needed ( and I did resort to it through desperation), simple heartburn can be easily relieved with ranitidine which doesn't Interact with the citalopram. Even when eventually everything else began to really improve, I still had the heartburn and whilst it's not one of the most horrific side effects, it can easily be relieved by taking the ranitidine.

ive never had heartburn before, so didnt even know what it felt like, started googling everything under the sun! --- worst thing i could do!

ive never had health problems or taken any medication before so this is all very new & freaking me out.

im having an ECG this week as i am so anxious about my health now, keep thinking everything is wrong with me! arghhhh

the heart burn with all the other side effects you are having is all within the norm of ssri.gerrymoo suggested the heartburn med which may help your nervous system slow down because of the added antihistamine qualities it has .so perhaps look into that.i know antihistamine for me are a god send for sleep.

oh i take antihistimine for sleep when needed, would they help with the heart burn as i have some here at home.

antihistamine on its own no. but the heart burn med gerrymoo suggested will.
