Heavy Bleeding

I went to the doctor two days ago, after having had an pelvis ultra sound. The good news was that the uterus was normal and everything else so they are more than certain that I am going through the peri menopause.

I had a blood test which showed abnormal kidney function which has really worried me, the dr said it could be that I was bleeding, so I've got to have another blood test in 3 weeks.

In the meantime yesterday I hadareally heavy bleed much much heavier than I had ever had and through thenight aswell it is really getting me down now so I went back ti the drs today to see if they could do anything else for me. A emergency gyane appointment has been made for me and Tranexamic Acid tablets have been prescribed. Has anyone else been through this and been prescribed these tablets and do they work, as I am going through hell at the moment and it is preventing me from working, and it is draining me

    Hi Caoline,

Exactly the same hapened with me, I was precribed Tranexamic Acid as well, it did work in reducing the bleeding, I was also put on Norethisterone as my bleeding was prolonged. Eventually I had the Mirena Coil put in, although it took a while to work now my periods are very light but still prolonged so when I start to bleed it can go on for 6 weeks. Try not to worry, great the scan came back OK.

Yes I have had this, had to go to hospital it was about a year before my period

    stopped (52).

I also had this when I was quite young and had Tran Acid which didn't really

do much for me as I had always had heavy periods.

My last episode was run up to menapause. How old are you Caroline.

Well Caroline it sounds like the same thing is happening to you.

Like I say at 53 mine stopped. Try the tablets for now, anything th a

may give you relief from the bleeding. Hopefully it will settle down

and maybe stop altogether very soon.

Keep in touch and let me know how it all goes.

All my very best to you☺

For about the last year I have had flooding periods the first 2 or 3 days of my period. Makes it hard to leave the house. Have not taken the tablets because they are an increased blood clot concern. I do take iron supplements.

I was desperate, I need to work and it was preventing me and was really draining me, I thought I was going to pass out

Yes, i understand. I get where my heart pounds and I feel like I am gonna pass out too, though it's better since I started taking the iron.

Yes I had to take iron for years when I was bleeding heavily.

I couldn't even take my children to school sometimes, my husband

had to come home to take them. And the pain! Ugh... I don't miss

those days that's for sure. Whatever this menapause throws at me

      it's still better than that!😕

Hop you all get through it really soon😊
