Heavy left ear and sharp pain in ear; has it happened to anyone

Posted , 7 users are following.

Hello Everyone,

Hope it's a better day. Just wondering if anyone has experienced what I've been having these last few days. I have MD more in my left ear than the right; so I've been having ear fullness and sharp/throbbing ear pain bringing on dizziness. It is coming and going throughout the day. Going to see a new ENT on Wed 31st; so hopefully will have some updates on my condition.

Any thoughts on this are appreciated.

Thx Reena

Yesterday I had a very loud noise and a very painful left ear, had hearing aid in playing all sorts of noises to try and drown it out, cried and really felt like I was being tortured.  Xanax took some of the edge off, it didn’t turn in to a spinning attack, today, no pain just rininging and nausea, went back on diuretic Monday because of spinning attacks coming back, hoping it will help the ear in general. I hope you get some relief...also when I mention ear pain to my docs all they say is that’s not a symptom of MD...probably not a common one but it’s REAL!

Thanks Debbie, as ear pain has happened before and ENT says not part of MD.....but hope it goes away soon.

Hello Reena, I understand your symptoms, I have had ear pain in the left ear off and on for quite a few years. The doctor would discover an ear infection. I am not saying you have an ear infection, just saying that was the cause of my throbbing pain (kind like a toothache). The ENT also recommended tubes because my ears will not pop, I have a bilateral eustachian tube dysfunction. I used to get that bad pressure and feeling like I'm in a jet at 30,000 feet. The doctor started me on antibiotic ear drops that I still use to day at the sign of ear pain. In combination of tubes and antibiotic drops I have the ear pain syndrome under control. I am wishing you a good experience with your ENT appointment. Please bring us back some good news! We all like to hear good news for any meniere's patient! especially You!

Thanks Bertman, let's see what this ENT says. I really want to get back to work and living a somewhat normal life; it's been a year now:-(

      Really appreciate your support.

    Good evening Reena!!

I have had that before it has lasted up to a week then it just went away there like someone sticking an ice pick in it.  I also have sharp needle like pains that come on the left side of my head from time to time sometimes I go for months without having them then sometimes they come several times a day I have asked my primary doctor about it but they cannot tell me what it is.

Thanks Daniel for letting me know your experience with the same. I also have the sharp pains in my left side pulling my head backwards and my doctor said its stress/migraine related and nothing to do with MD. I just feel that because it's not a visible illness; it's tossed in different directions. Hope for some relief for me and everyone else in this forum.

      Take care and Thx: Reena

    Hi,

my menieres is also in my left ear - just curious to hear if this is significant. Could it be a left ear problem?

      Hi Marilyn,

I'm not sure if it's a left ear thing...I have slight MD in my right ear also, but having a really tough time with it now. I want this to end somehow.

I wish you all the best Marilyn.

I have it only in my right ear.  My left is starting to get tinnitus but not MD.

But I have a feeling it’s starting in my left.

Hello Willow, Let's certainly hope that meniere's does not develop in the left ear.

The tinnitus started in one ear and later developed in the other ear. Balance testing revealed balance issues in both ears and the menieres ended up bilateral

I know odds are it will go to the other ear, but praying for not a long long time.  Wish me luck having that test tomorrow.
