Heavy Periods After Open Myomectomy

Posted , 1 user is following.

I had an open myomectomy in March 2022 and had five large fibroids removed. Before surgery, my periods were lasting up to two weeks, with severe cramps and heavy bleeding (I wear a menstrual cup and was having to change it every hour, even through the night). Since surgery, my periods are not as heavy as before but still significantly heavy. They are still lasting more than a week, with intense cramps and heavy bleeding, including blood clots. I usually have to get up once or twice in the night on the heaviest night of bleeding.

In August (6 cycles after my surgery) I went back to the doctor to make sure the fibroids had not returned. She did an ultrasound and said there was some scar tissue but the fibroids had not come back.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? How long did it take for your periods to stabilize after surgery?

I'm wondering if I have excess estrogen and have started seed cycling to try and balance my hormones, but I'd love any other advice or suggestions.
