Heels

O.k - very girley question, and I'm aware very superficial, but one of the things I found hard as my arthritis progressed was being limited to flat shoes. Can any fellow female hippies who are further down the road tell me if they are able to wear heels again ? I' m not talking seriously high - just 1-2 inches? If so, how long after your op?

I have been wearing sandals with velcro fastenings and a 1 inch club heel since day one. They were until last Sunday the only things apart from slippers I could get on. Love Gill XXX

I'm 5 foot 10 , so I've never worn heels, only mainly flat shoes. After my hippie, I wouldn't trust myself in heels ..... Lol xx

    Hi Shirley.

I didn't get round to wearing heels after my left hip in February due to still having the right dodgy hip. I'm hoping though that I will be able to wear heels as you describe when both hips are totally healed.

Hopefully someone will be able to answer your question. The last time I wore heels of any kind was for my wedding in May last year but they were only a couple of inches high.

    Dear Shirley,

I have been wearing leather sandals with a 2 inches heel since day one. I went to hospital  and I walk out in them.  I never use completely  flat shoes/sandals because I don't find them comfortable. I can wear now all my other shoes , but  the heels are all arounf 3 inches, no more; I am quite tall so I never liked high heels!

    Best wishes

Hi Shirley, yes I've gone back to heels. I had a RTHR in May and bought these slingbacks from Pavers (heel height 7cms) a couple of weeks ago. I had no problem wearing them for an evening and they felt great. Picture attached.

I'm three months in and waiting for my left hip op. I have so many heels I can not wait to wear, but alas I can not wear them yet. I do not feel dressed without them. I'm on holiday in Greece right now and I get ready for the night time dinner and it just does not feel right putting on flats with a dressy dress. I will not give away or through out my heels as I will wear them again x

Hi Heather. That's how I feel - also prefer to wear heels at work - smart office dress and flats just doesn't feel right to me. Be careful though that you haven't worn your heels 'twisted' in any way due to the arthritis. X

I had my op in May and have worn heels since. Not very high ones but they were fine. I askked the question in hospital. As you say very superficial!
