    hi tara

i cant suggest height of cane but check with physio. i would say height of hand piece on crutch .

i used 2 crutches for walking outdoors eg up to 3 km and upto 4 and half weeks after op. Then i used my treking poles which id used for walking hiking before to reduce pain.

a very useful post here for me was saying to use both crutches and practise walking without limp- heel to toe etc. I have let my body say when im ready for walking and other activities. At 5 weeks i can walk without limp if i concentrate and go up and down stairs normally. i have been out on my electric bike for short ride on track and stood and paddled my SuP briefly.

I you should go with your body . good luck

    best wishes

You can go into a medical supply store and they can show you the right length for your cane.

physio adjusted my cane for me. had me put my arm down to my side and adjusted it to my wrist height. I actually had it set too high. I too am curious about when will no longer limp. I am just over 6 weeks post op and am driving walking around house without cane (limping unless I really concentrate), but dont limp while using my cane. I have a feeling that it has something to do with the strength of the muscles that have been so neglected while we are in pain and then beaten up in surgery. I am committed to exercise and staying with physio to get to a normal gait. Good luck with your recovery.

Hi Tara, wrist height is correct, when you flatten your hand out the handle should reach around the bottom of thumb/wrist bone. I bought a collapsable one so that if I didn't need it, it folds away and you an put it in your bag

The physio will put it to the correct height Tara when they give them to you, you will know yourself anyway. You need to stand straight and not bend over.
