Helicobacter Pylori - still got symptoms??

I was diagnosed with Helicobacter Pylori infection about 3 weeks ago and placed on antibiotics and PPI (omeprazole). Finished the antibiotics and felt a lot better for a few days, but now the nausea has come back. I still take Omeprazole, and my doctor said that it might be up to 2 months before i see improvement but surely the nausea should be at least settling down by now? I can barely eat and my weight is falling rapidly. I am very worried.

the 'nausea is another issue'. Omeprazole will take time to work and is a PPI which helps with acid and all sorts of issues; it's a good tablet. Try improving your diet and taking some diegestive enzymes from the health food shop in the interim which help digest fats when u are experiencing malabsorption. I don't know what your original ysmptoms were but it's likely that your PH stomach acid is out of whack due to other issues - and has perhaps caused issues of inflammation and suchlike. As you are already on omeprazole then you have addressed this; if you have high cholesterol may be worth trying to cut down on teh fats and eat fiber and veg as well; which togheter can assist in putting on weight (fibre helps the body to store fat as opposed to you just eating well)..
wishing you well soon

Mate...........oh I have been feeling just as frustrated as you. I have now had 4 endoscopies showing:
1st. Severe stiomach inflammation and negative for Hpylori
2nd Nothing, no inflammation, no biopsy taken
3rd. Gastritis, Bile and no Helico Bacter, Moderate Inflammation
4th. Two weeks ago. Gastritis and Positive for Hpylori.
Pick the bones out of that lot!!!!! I too have finished my course of antibiotics and it has made absolutely no difference to my symptoms. I have nausea most of the time and it is basically ruining my life! I have been like this for 5 years now and only had a 7 month period where there was no stomach inflammation and I cannot see that I was ever doing anything different at that time.
My specialist is uninterested in my case but I have not been pushy enough. My next appt. is in June and I am taking my wife with me. I think having someone batting for you will help me to get across just how ill I feel and how much I want to be treated as a priority and not an afterthought.
My advice would be to push now so that you don't wait for ever to get the treatment you can have. Push for an endoscopy and the ph testing. Make them give you some kind of plan for trying all the different drugs they have available. Look at alternatives, Domperidone works for me occassionally, I am also taking apple cider vinegar and pro biotics but they are not always effective (bought myself), and I have tried carafate which seemed to be a psoitive thing but is not currently available in the UK.
Until you get a complete diagnosis of what is going on in your gut you can't make decisions on how to combat it. How can you fight an unkown enemy? If I could get a definitive diagnosis of my condition I would even consider linx surgery and pay for it myself but until I know exactly what is wrong I can't make any informed decisions. So again my advice would be.....BE PUSHY, they just want you out of the door, they are happy if you leave without demanding things and they will only offer the basics to cover thier backs unless you give it to them straight. Don't be soft like me!! As my wife always says......"A crying baby gets the most milk" (She's Chinese!....BIZARRE SAYING BUT IT's TRUE!). I aim to get something done at my next appointment but as for the Hpylori, it seems that is only half the story so you need to keep on at them as I have never found a PPI that works for me and until I get a Ph test done I will never know if it is too much acid, not enough acid or even bile that is causing me to feel so nausous all the time.
Sorry for the long post!! and GOOD LUCK!
