Hell on Earth!

My story started 4 years ago with problems with my heart becoming very erratic. I ended up in ED over and over with changes in my ecg but couldn't find anything. I wake up gasping for air and my blood pressure drops suddenly, still no answers. I have terrible reflux, tingling in my hands and feet at times. the head pressure is ferocious and lately I can't go into shopping centres as I feel dizzy. the last six months I have terrible nausea and I'm bloated all the time, sometimes I'm so sick I want to vomit. I've had terrible irritation in my bladder and had to go on pessaries to help control this as it was unbearable and felt like I had constant UTI's . my latest lovely symptom is the aches in my forearm and legs, wrists etc. sometimes just on the left hand side. I've had every medical test in the world and nothing... I am treated like a hypochondriac. most days I cry now as I'm miserable. I'm 50 years of age and feel like I'm 100. I'm on HRT but still having all these symptoms..... will it ever stop?

    Hey Sally..

HELL ON EARTH is an accurate description of menopause, as you soooo... eloquently stated! That said, many times, I say it's MENTALpause, simply because it wreaks havoc on our MENTAL well being, too.. I am in the FULL blown post-menopausal stage of my life, and it is absolutely HORRIFIC, to say the least! Sally, you sound like you are in the peri-menopausal stage of your life; suffice it to say, ALL three of the stages are UNFATHOMABLE! Somedays, I want to hide in a DARK closet, and stay there, til this sugar, honey, ice tea is OVAAA!! Don't be alarmed, many of the symptoms you are experiencing are a result of imbalanced hormones; they are VERY common throughout the meno stages! That's why your tests are negative! (Thank The Lawd!!) I, too, have had many of the aforementioned symptoms you have described. I REFUSE to take HRT, because there are cancer-concerns with this form of treatment. That being said, I have been taking the ALL-Naturell route to combat the symptoms, yet many days, I want to take meds to STOP this madness! Now I will say this, menopause pushes its way through a good diet, meds, vitamins, etc.. My suggestion to you is this: Get comfortable with this forum; it is a Godsend! The women who post are kind, helpful, insightful, compassionate, understanding, peaceful and well-versed... regarding the meno stages, and are NOT ashamed of what they're going through! I love the fact that they are sooo... BRUTALLY HONEST about how they feel; they, like me know this is a safe space to converse about these stages of our lives! On that note, be well, my menopausal sistah!

    Hello Sally,

Sounds like you are at at the beginning or this. I started the same way with the heart beating fast, raised pulse, then the stomach problems. No matter what you eat acid reflux, bloating, and your food just not digesting. Doctors run ever test and they all come back normal. Doctors prescribe the standard RX for stomach, but did not do much. I took them for a while then stopped because staying on them long term causes other problems. I did not do the HRT because of the risk. The beginning for me was the absolute worst. Bleeding for weeks, cramps and pressure as if I were in labor, bloated middle, no energy - you want to move but just cant seem to get it together. What helped me was switching to an organic diet, lime juice with my meal and after, cut out/limit sugar (for now), and realizing that when I have a good day enjoy it. They are few and far between. For me I tried just about everything, and nothing helped me feel like I was myself. I hope you have better luck. When I crossed over- last period, in 2021 I seem to have turned a corner. I get two weeks at a time where I feel like my vibrant self in my 30's early 40's, but now I am dealing with new problems. Now the thinning hair, facial hair, and everything sags. Yep! Hold on for a bumpy bumpy ride that is going to last year.
