Hi Can you give us a little more information? If you have another operation there will be the same risks as associated with the first surgery and the same healing time will be required. I have found no information that points to a fistula leading to cancer. Speak to your doctor about this next time you visit and they will be able to put your mind at rest. I hope you recover soon.

I am not clear why you have this fear about an increased risk of cancer? All I can tell you is that during the 18 months I had a fistula there was never any mention of cancer by my consultant or anyone else. What is making you think this? If you have time please read the other posts here on this forum. A very healthy diet is your best defence to help towards healing the fistula. happy to try to answer any more questions you may have.
